WHAT IS POLITICIZED SOMATICS?
Somatics moves us toward embodying new ways of being that align our values, longings, and actions.
This course will include practices and methodology from the Generative Somatics lineage (https://generativesomatics.org). It is a politicized somatic mind/body lineage that builds embodied leadership to align people’s personal and collective practices with their principles. It aims to heal trauma and internalized oppression for the sake of advancing loving and rigorous social justice movements that possess the creativity, resilience, and liberatory power needed to transform society.

Offerings for Cohort Members
Bodywork is an integral practice in the generative somatics arc of transformation. It offers resource, connection, dignity and safety at the level of the tissue to invite transformation of embodied trauma and oppression. For those on the path to healing their embodied white-supremacy, bodywork is a practice that offers the possibility of more alive responsiveness and grounding in the boundaries of the body for the sake of collective liberation.
Workshop will include:
Somatic self-bodywork theory and techniques
In-depth guided self-bodywork session designed to move us towards an embodied sense of belonging, pleasure, and aliveness, as well as centered boundaries, accountability and responsiveness.
For all members of the HWBS Cohort Community
Preparing for this workshop: This workshop will start with some opening practice and discussion of bodywork theory and framework. You will also be guided in a self-bodywork session, it is best if you can be in a private space that includes somewhere you can lie down comfortably, like a bed, massage table or floor. Comfortable clothes are helpful as well. During the workshop we will offer different options if this is not accessible to you.
