So, as I said, it was already the 28th and I had a couple of prompts already behind schedule, since my last post was #24 - Tempting. At this point I decided to make the remaining sketches and then finisih what I could before the end of October, again focusing on the remaining days.
For that reason, the next one I posted was #29 Uh Oh, which was an idea that I also tought for #30 Gear. I posted it October 30. Then I thought about finishing with #31 Farm, but that was not the way things went: when I looked at my sketches I could not help but finish #25 Ego. And i liked the result a lot.
#Inktober 2022, Day 25: Ego as a mask weaved by ourselves.
I had made a previous research online and mostly the concept of ego was about masks and minds. I actually toyed with the idea of a "Wall of Faces" like the one in the House of Black and White from Game of Thrones. But eventually got the idea of a weaving wheel being used to make someones face.

I will show bellow the step by step.
I started with the overal disposition. To set this I used the workshop table as the starting point. Once its perspective was defined the weaving whell could be drawn without much trouble.
Using the table as refeernce again I made a torso and right arm in a separate set of layers. I preffered to make the details, even when they might be covered since it gives more freedom to assemble everything later.
Since the left arm depended upon the placement of other elements it was separated in its own set of layers.
Next, I worked on the head. The idea was a completelly mechanical thing, so I decided to start it from inside. I started the head with a spherical CPU set on top of a support, like a table lamp. I imagined that different faces require adjustments in width and placement of features, so both the mouth/teeth set and the hear sensors are placed on moving stalks.
In a similar way a set of eye-sensors sets upon two articulated anthena-like structures. The eyes set had a base that attached directly to the CPU. An external very light shell is used to fixate the many faces that can be weaved. The outer shell has a adustable conection to the jaw and, a set of tranlucent lenses to give shape to the eyes an clips in the forehead to keep the face in the place.
The remainng elements of the body and tools were next.
A small hand weaver was drawn over the table to help place the left arm. This weaver should be in a position that allowed a clear view of the face being weaved.
After that the arm could be places such as its working on the weaver holding on of its moving pieces.
I decided the thread should be very bright, so used a pen tool with flat surface to conect the wheel to the hand weaver.
After that it was just a matter of adding the face/mask and, background and a few small details.
Although this was the last image I posted (october, 31). I had already, by then, finished and posted the image for days 29/30. And that is the next one I have to show.
