Back when I was making my first experiments with AIArt, before Stable Difusion was commonplace, one of the first creations I liked was "Veteran´s Portrait", in which I kind of created a picture of a few combat robots. A bit like "Big Dog" from Boston Dynamics. So I thought this would be a perfect concept for this prompt.
That is what the final image looks like.
#Inktober 2022, Day 20: Prepare for next mission
The image i was talking is this one. As you can see it is not very detailed but i liked the overall vibe both the Big Dog-like robot and the small yellow one. So I decided to use the image as a general idea.
Next step was to look online for a few examples of real robots of this kind. Big Dog, off course was one of then. But also the robot from the Metalhead episode in Black Mirror.
So I fused the legs of a Big Dog (and the small lidar in the front) with the main look of the robot I had created in my "Veterans" art. I also incorporated the small yellow service robot. I gave him a manipulator and more detailed legs. In the scene I imagined it would be helping to load the bigger robot with extra firepower. To make the new gun more realistic used a reference photo of a M134 Minigun (the famous "Terminator" weapon).
The entire drawing was actually composed of a lot of parts. I initially draw the first line art for the bigger robot.
After that I made a second, completelly different drawing for the smaller robot, and added the new features like the manipulator.
And then I had the additional features to do, the Minigun etc...
So I added the Minigun (itself a separate drawing), a support to attach it to the bigger robot and a few extra details: the ammo and the secondary weapon that the robot already had on its right side.
To finish I applied grayscale and a few extra details as new layers. Problem was that I actually got behind schedulle again.
So, I finished as fast as possible using a generick background.
I was already one day behind schedulle when I posted and started working on the 21th prompt "Heist".
