Experiences as a teacher, professional development I have undergone, and next steps in my professional education.
As my school has recently adopted the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, I have had the opportunity to complete multiple IB training workshops. Additionally, I am currently enrolled in a future workshop for the IB Diploma Programme, which our school hopes to offer in the future.

In the summer of 2019, I completed a 13 hour online professional development course on the teaching of Big History. Big History is the history of thresholds of increasing complexity in the universe. It is a one year course designed for high school students that teaches a cohesive narrative from the Big Bang to the present, and even looks beyond to the future.
In the summer of 2018, I had the opportunity to spend a week in the Washington state capitol of Olympia for a unique professional development opportunity called the Legislative Scholars program. The program provides teachers with the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about the legislative process in the state.
Another professional development opportunity I have had the opportunity to be involved in was the 4th Annual Washington State Charter Schools Association Conference. At the conference, held in the spring on 2018, I was able to learn about increasing classroom rigor from Tyson Kane, the Head of Schools for the Noble Network of charter schools.
