GALANG was formed in 2008 by a small group of lesbian activists who saw that the LGBT community in the Philippines was predominantly Middle-Class. With the current landscape, the group decided to establish an organization that could be a catalyst for the empowerment of Filipino lesbians, bisexual women, and trans men (LBTs) in urban poor communities to attain social and economic equity, and create an enabling policy environment.
Bahaghari is a non-profit organization based on Manila, Philippines and aims to combat discrimination against individuals who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. The organization is inspired by the Stonewall Riots and the Babaylans who strongly upholds revolutionary principles.
UP Babaylan is a student organization in the University of the Philippines that was founded in 1991. Now, the organization has grown to have chapters in in places like Clark and Baguio and has events that continuously promote their message of fighting for LGBTQIA+ rights both in their campus and out.
