This is the big one- The culmination of over a year of work: A compilation of 10 cartoons, and 5 faux advertisements, wrapped up in a relatable shell, entitled "Doomscrolling"
Doomscrolling combines the writing talent of Pierce Purselly (of nextflix's "Mortified") and Haven Studios, to bring you the best entertainment we can offer. Sketches include:
Out of touch celebrities
Weird trucker guys
Nuns who fall down quite frequently
Superheroes
Other stuff too!
On a more serious note: a year is a long time to work on a project, and few freelance animators have been as blessed as I have to have clients like Pierce and Vicious Comedy fall into my lap so early in my career. Steady work is hard to come by, and to fast-track a sketch every month is no joke. Over the process of animating Doomscrolling, many adjustments were made to my animation, compositing, pre-production techniques, software, and mindset- both to accommodate notes from the client, and also to make the production look and sound as good as it possibly can. I learned a lot, both through exploration and trail and error on this production
NOTE: The Brave little toaster sketch was done by an outside animator not affiliated with Haven Studios, who was contracted separately by Vicious Comedy.
The Mourning Show with Helena Bonham Carter
Demilitarized Zone
Top Gun 7
When I looked for the best advice on animating a crowd, the first note was "Write it out of the script if you can." So I thought "why don't I engineer something rad to make it manageable?" Enter "Modular Man" (which also does women too!)
Modular Man is a custom character creator I made specifically for the aesthetics of the cartoon, with different features, using the master controller suite in Toonboom Harmony! Now we can knock out that crowd lickety split, without dupes!
