What is a microschool?
Think of a microschool as a modern reimagining of the one-room schoolhouse. It combines the personalized attention of homeschooling with the social community and expert guidance of a traditional classroom—all in a safe, small-group setting.
Are you a certified teacher?
Yes—I’ve taught in traditional classrooms for 10 years. I was feeling discouraged by the traditional classroom/school programs so I’m switching to microschools so I can help students regain their joy for learning. I’m excited to work with Prenda to help kids take more control over their learning experiences!
Is the environment safe and vetted?
Absolutely! As a Prenda-partnered pod, our space meets safety standards, and I maintain full background clearances and certifications; CPR & First Aid.
What is Prenda?
Prenda is a microschool services company that supports inspiring and caring adults in starting and running amazing microschools. I’m partnering with Prenda to provide the support, training, and curriculum that will help make our microschool an engaging and effective learning experience. Prenda supports hundreds of microschools and has a tried and true, research-based approach.
How much does it cost to attend your microschool?
My microschool starts at $7,499. My school runs on a State Scholarship model. You’ll apply to the state education department for the Step Up PEP scholarship. Your account will be funded each quarter. Prenda will invoice you each quarter and you’ll pay using state funds with no out-of-pocket cost to your family. Here is the link to instruction to apply for PEP!
How is your microschool different from normal school?
In 'normal' school, the group moves at one pace. At Haven, we move at your child's pace. We trade standardized testing stress for 'Mastery-Based' learning, and lecture time for 'Maker's Studio' projects. Your child isn't just a student; they are a creator.
What happens if the guide is sick?
Because we prioritize the health of our community, there may be rare days when the physical pod is closed due to illness.
However, learning doesn't have to stop! On these days, students will pivot to a 'Home Discovery Day.' They will complete their 90–120 minute independent study (core math and reading) from the comfort of home using their personalized learning tools. This ensures they stay on track with their goals without missing a beat.
How will I know that my child is learning what they need to learn?
We use a mix of real-time progress tracking through the Prenda platform and 'Portfolios of Work.' You’ll see exactly what they are mastering each week, from math concepts to the creative projects they’ve built in our Discovery Lab.
