This book is as a result of collaborative work with two colleagues, Laura Grillo and Adriaan van Klinken. In its creative approach the book begins by exploring the historical development of the three three main religious traditions on the African continent, here identified as, African indigenous religions, Christianity and Islam. This is then followed by the thematic chapters that examines on the roles these religions play in the contemporary African societies.
