Where available the music above is linked to online scores. You are reminded that no time will be spent in rehearsal note bashing music made available in advance.
Oxford is a far more expensive destination than Chester and it is regretted that costs are going to be higher this year. It is only possible to book 7 nights accommodation and I can advise that the cost will be £375 for an en-suite studio. These provide a 4 foot bed, en-suite shower, a kitchenette equipped with multi-function oven (grill, microwave and oven), hob, kettle, fridge freezer, dining table and a work desk. The cost, to include bedding, towels and a dining set will be £375 room only. Please note that the beds are 3/4 sized doubles, i.e. 4 foot. Should you wish to prepare a meal yourself you will need to bring your own pots and pans. However, ready meals etc. can be heated/cooked in the facilities provided.
Free parking is also available! Just make sure that on arrival your car registration is entered on the Tablet at/wiith Reception.
Access is from Westminster Way signposted West Way Shopping Centre. Head for the upper level. Reception is then down a flight of stairs and to your left.
The accommodation is West Way Square Botley. Details can be found by clicking on the link. As far as I am aware we are allocated Superior studios but I cannot guarantee this. There are several communal spaces including a furnished out door roof terrace.
The complex has Tesco and Co-op supermarkets. a pharmacy as well as a couple of eateries.
Although transport into the city centre is plentiful due to a Network Rail project this now has to be underaken in 2 sections with a short walk in between.
Please pay your balance of £300 or if a deposit has not been paid the full amount of £375 by 1st July 2023.
We are now booked at The White House by Tap Social, 38 Abingdon Road, Oxford, OX1 4PD. 7:30pm for 8pm.
This is an interesting venue and I would recommend that you read their story here. The menu choices are somewhat more limited than is often the case but I hope there is something that you will like. The hotels in Oxford were all seeking unrealistic prices for our event so this venue is something of a compromise which does provide us with a private room.
Please follow this link to complete the survey for your menu choices. As ever a pre-order is required so I would be grateful for your prompt responses and at the latest by Friday 21st July 2023. Thank you for your co-operation.
As ever, pre-orders will be required and the relevant survey will be sent out early July. Cost is £35 per person for a 3 course meal. Please make payment to the choir account: Sort Code: 40-52-40; Account Number: 00020909.
The appearance of the choir is important: it gets noticed and affects how we come across.
The choir provides cassocks, surplices and whites. If you have yours at home, please be sure to bring them with you. If you haven’t done so already and this is your first time with Harsnett, please let Elizabeth Jack know your approximate height and build.
Please wear quiet black shoes and dark trousers and socks or tights as these may show under your cassock. Academical hoods and RSCM medals may be worn during Evensong. They are not worn at the Eucharist.
You will be given a cardboard wallet containing the week’s music. It would greatly help if you kept all the music in the wallet when not in use. Please ensure that any markings you make on your copy are made in pencil only.
Harsnett borrows a great deal of music from various sources. Their willingness to lend to us for free depends on us returning it promptly, intact, and with our pencil markings removed. You may keep music you have downloaded or, if you wish, donate it to the choir library.
For services, we carry music in red hardback folders. If you have one of these, please remember to bring it with you. If you do not have one, they will be available. Please return both folders and all music before you leave.
Where available, online versions of sheet music are linked from the 'music' section above.
Once the music list has been agreed with the cathedral, Ed will create a Spotify playlist and provide video recordings below. Please bear in mind that the sheet music and recordings linked from here may differ subtly to our own version on the day.
If you have any questions, please contact Ed.
