The annual choir photo will take place at some point during the week depending on weather and other commitments - please listen for an announcement.

*It is unlikely that everyone will be required for all of this rehearsal, but you are asked to be available and part/sectional rehearsals will be announced beforehand.

Folders

You will be given a cardboard wallet containing the week’s music. It would greatly help if you kept all the music in the wallet when not required for use, and put it back in the wallet afterwards. Please ensure that any markings you make on your copy are made in pencil only.

Harsnett borrows a great deal of music from various sources as well as lending our own music to other choirs. Their willingness to lend it to us for free depends on us returning it promptly, intact, and with our pencil markings removed. You may keep music you have downloaded or, if you wish, donate it to the Choir library.

For services, we carry music in red hardback folders. If you have one of these, please remember to bring it with you to Exeter. If you do not have one, they will be available. Please return your hardback folder before you leave.

Location

Exeter Cathedral, The Cloisters, Exeter EX1 1HS

Accommodation

We will be staying at The Printworks, Western Way, Exeter EX1 2ZT.

This accommodation is 5 years old. It has a number of communal areas with soft drink and snack vending machines as well as a pool table. There is also an on site gym which will be available to us and also a laundry room.

The accommodation is a 12 minute walk from the Cathedral precincts - providing you don't stop to shop!

The cost for up to 8 nights in a single en-suite room will be £225 to include provisions for continental breakfast, tea and coffee.

It is recommended that you pack a hand towel.

Reception is open 24 hours a day. They have our rooming list and will issue keys.

Any questions, please contact Graham at accom@harsnettchoir.org.

Travel

If possible, we recommend travelling to Exeter by train. The accommodation is in the heart of the city and has no car parking. Short term pay and display car parking is available on Verney Street, Exeter, EX1 2AW nearby which might be useful when you arrive. There are two public car parks near the accommodation at a cost of £11 per 24 hours. These can be paid for by phone for consecutive days, meaning you could pay for the whole week in one go. Lower cost parking may be available using the JustPark website.

Choir meal - Saturday 10th August 2019

As has become our custom a meal has been arranged for the Saturday evening. Family and friends are more than welcome to this social gathering.

The venue is the Queens Court Hotel, Bystock Terrace, Exeter, Devon EX4 4HY which is quite central. The cost for a three course meal is £27.50 per person.

In the usual way the venue does require pre-orders. These have to be provided by Friday 19th July 2019. I would ask everybody, even if you don't wish to attend, to complete the following survey.

Your co-operation would be very much appreciated.

Robing and dress

The appearance of the choir is important: it gets noticed and affects how we come across.

The choir provides cassocks, surplices and whites. If you have yours at home, please be sure to bring them with you. If you haven’t done so already and this is your first time with Harsnett, please let Elizabeth Jack know your approximate height and build.

Please wear quiet black shoes and dark trousers and socks or tights as these may show under your cassock. Academical hoods and RSCM medals may be worn during Evensong. They are not worn at the Eucharist.
