Mental Health in COVID

Hello, my name is Kaitlyn from Troop 4998 Girl Scouts Nation's Capital, and I am the creator of this website. I am a girl scout ambassador and for my Gold Award project, I have created this website to provide centralized resources for teenagers and young adults who are struggling with their mental health, especially with the isolation of quarantining due to COVID-19.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, the percentage of adults reported to suffer from anxiety and depressive disorders have increased from about ten percent to about forty percent since the COVID-19 pandemic has hit. Being isolated at home and feeling scared about the danger of being outside has made more people feel stressed and anxious about everything going on around them. This website aims to help people who are feeling anxious or depressed, but there is no guarantee that it will help because everyone's mind works differently. If you feel that you need more mental help after learning about some of the suggested practices explained in this website, please reach out using some of the links on our "Getting Help" page. These links will direct you to professional help that will be able to better support your personal needs.

If you feel like you need serious help immediately, please try one of these resources:

  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and teen helpline

    • In English 1-800-273-TALK (8255)

    • En Español 1-888-628-9454

  • Crisis Text Line

    • Text 'TALK' or ‘HELLO’ to 741741

For more information, use the drop-down menu in the top right corner of the screen to look at the other pages where you can find information on daily practices, relaxation and fun, socialization, and getting more help.

After browsing through the site, please complete the survey below in order to let me know what you like about this website and what you think could be better. Thank you!
