Community Nature Champion Volunteer


NATURE TOGETHER: Community Connection Walks is a 12 months project from September 2026 to August 2027 for Afro-Caribbeans designed to improve wellbeing, strengthen family relationships, and help communities connect with and care for nature.


As a Volunteer, your support us to run this project smoothly will helping families to connect with nature, improve wellbeing, and build stronger community relationships through participation in the Nature Together: Community Connection Walks project.

 

Volunteer Responsibilities include (but not limited):

- Welcome and support families attending nature walks and events.

- Help participants engage in activities such as nature exploration, tree and plant identification, wildlife spotting, and nature journaling.

- Encourage participation from children of all ages, parents, carers, and grandparents.

- Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment.

- Assist with registration, refreshments, and setting up or packing away equipment.

- Support environmental activities such as litter picks and caring for local green spaces.

- Help at community events, including the the end of project Celebration.

- Provide feedback to project staff about participant experiences and suggestions.


Training

You will be provided with the following training to equip you to do your effectively

- Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults

- Health and Safety Awareness

- Trauma-Informed Practice Awareness

- Nature Connection and Environmental Awareness

- Administering First Aid

- Volunteer Induction

- Event Volunteer Briefing

- DBS checks (paid by the organisers)
