I am a College of Liberal Arts Honors Student in the Health and Society Department. I recently completed my honors thesis about Generation Z's fertility intentions. I have worked as a desk assistant for the UTurn Liberal Arts program and served as a teaching assistant for the Introduction to Health and Society course. Outside of classes and work, I was the National Communications Coordinator for the University Residence Hall Association and ensured our organization is up to date with regional communication and created bids to showcase our accomplishments. In my free time, I enjoy reading romance novels, playing the Sims 4 and trying new restaurants in the Austin area!
Strengths Reflection
I come from a diverse cultural background (my father is German, my mother is black, I have siblings that are Korean and Hispanic) and so I have experienced many different cultures in my life. I have thoroughly enjoyed eating foods and learning about the histories of other places. I also try to keep up with different cultural news such as ongoing genocides, and I try to be cognizant of the past and present problems certain groups are facing. Cultural awareness is important to me due to the different experiences my family members have had and wanting to be mindful and respectful in all my interactions, especially as a health care professional.
I started doing theatre when I was in elementary school up until my senior year of high school and I have taken a college speech course, so oral communication is a skill I have been developing since childhood. I am an executive board member for an organization that works to improve the on-campus living experience for college students and I have to speak in front of small and large groups, so I am constantly using and improving upon my communication skills.
