Get the Most Out of Your Educator Benefits!
Provide communication to members from the Association by attending AR meetings at the association once a month (in person and virtual). If it conflicts with something at your school, we can assist in getting you excused to attend as it is just once a month and all dates are set.
Have 10 minute meetings once a month to share information
Have a bulletin board at the school to share information about the association
Assist in recruiting new members in your building
Automatically be placed on the school leadership team per the MOU to assist in assuring the MOU is being followed.
This leadership role is vital to our members as the representative is trained and equipped to be:
The Advocate for Educators
Reps ensure that educators’ voices are heard at the building level.
They advocate for fair treatment, proper working conditions, and adherence to the negotiated agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
When concerns arise (e.g., class size, duty assignments, prep time), the rep is often the first line of support.
Knowledgeable of Rights
Union reps monitor MOU compliance and address violations swiftly in collaboration with the association and the administration.
They help staff navigate issues like evaluations, leave, or discipline with confidence and clarity. Referring them to the appropriate support
A Trusted Support
Teachers and staff often confide in their rep with concerns or uncertainties.
A good rep provides confidential guidance, helps them understand their rights, and supports them through challenges.
The Liaison Between Members and Leadership
Reps serve as a communication channel between the union leadership and building staff.
They share important updates, gather member feedback, and amplify building-specific needs to district-level union leaders.
A Builder of Unity and Morale
A rep fosters solidarity, collaboration, and morale in the building.
They organize meetings, support new hires, encourage union membership, and help create a culture of collective strength.
A Problem-Solver and Leader
Effective reps often help resolve problems before they escalate.
Their presence can lead to smoother relationships between administration and staff, benefiting the entire school community.
