Motion Blurr

Using a slow shutter speed- You and your camera are still- that background is still- but something is moving.

Motion blur can use a shutter speed anywhere from 1/20 for a shutter speed (for example with the leaves in front of the boy). or 3 minutes with the boy fighting himself (these would require either a tripod or a table set up in a dark space and a flashlight).

TIPS:

  • Stabilize your camera on a tripod or table or stump or something that won't move.

  • take pictures in lower light.

  • close your aperture to let less light in

  • Lower your ISO (100- 400)

  • THEN- adjust your shutter speed to get slow shutter speed.

It's a bit long- but it's a good tutorial on how to use longer exposures to create this motion blur. Some of it more than what we need. But try to follow what he's saying about shutter speed- stabilizing your camera- subject matter etc. Don't worry about the filters- but they are what people use to make really long exposure pictures during the bright day light hours.
