• • I have never done Model United Nations. Is it okay for me to attend?

Yes, of course! MIMUN is very beginner friendly as most of our delegates are first timers! We provide a mentoring session on the first day of the conference to ensure that all delegates fully understood the procedure and the rules of MUN. Moreover, the chairs and secretariats are always welcome to any and all questions that a delegate may have. Please first refer to our Rules of Procedure document and also do not hesitate to ask if you have any remaining questions. 

• • How can I prepare for the conference?

The HMUN team believes that the best way for a delegate to prepare for the conference is to read the chair report. It is also important for the delegates to understand the assigned country's stance about the specific agenda. Moreover, all delegates are expected to deliver an opening speech on the first day of the conference. Please refer to the Rules of Procedure document for more information on the opening speech.

• • Is the conference in English or Korean?

The conference is fully in English. 

• • What to I need to bring to the conference?

As the resolution paper is written through Google Docs, it is crucial for all delegates to bring a digital device, preferably a laptop, to the conference hall. Moreover, please make sure to bring a charger for your device. Below is a list of items that one might need on the day of the conference

• Laptop and charger

• Formal attire (including but not limited to school uniforms)

• A water bottle

• A printed copy of the opening speech 

• • Do I have to attend the conference for both dates?

Yes! Please refer to the schedule page for more details. 

• • What awards are given out?

We usually give out Best Delegate / Outstanding Delegate and Honorable Mention from each committee!

• • Do I have to print the materials out or can I access the internet on the day of the conference?

No internet usage is allowed during the time of the conference except Google Docs. Internet searches, any applications, and generative AI including but not limited to ChatGPT usage are strictly prohibited during the MUN. If you have any reference materials during the competition, please print them out in advance and bring them with you. If any activities unrelated to the resolution writing are detected, you will be disqualified from the award after one warning.

• • Can parents observe the conference?

No, unfortunately no observers are allowed to enter the conference rooms.
