What is MIMUN?

MIMUN (Middle School International Model United Nations) is a student-run Model UN conference organized by members of HAFS's Model UN research club (모의유엔융합심화탐구반). Now in its 20th year, MIMUN has been a HAFS tradition since the school's early years, offering ambitious middle schoolers a genuine, high-level international debate experience and introducing many future HAFS students to the school along the way.

Fees: No participation fee. Delegates cover only lunch (2 days) and venue costs.

New sections/rules added:

- Quorum (Section 0) — defines and governs quorum, previously undefined

- Unmoderated caucus (Rules 1.5 / 3.1.8) — delegates may now motion for up to 15 minutes of informal negotiation

- Chair-to-delegate notes (Rule 2.3.1) — administrative notes from the dais are exempt from the note-passing restrictions

- Exhausted speakers' list procedure (Rule 2.4.7)

- Amendment cap (Rule 2.5.6) — max 5 amendments per resolution unless the dais grants an exception; friendly amendments don't count toward the cap

- Failed close-debate motion procedure (Rule 3.1.3.1)

- Tied motion votes now explicitly fail (Rule 4.3.1)

- Pre-print resolution checklist for chairs (Rule 5.8.1)

Existing rules revised:

- Open debate time is now a 45–90 minute range set by the chair (was a fixed 90 minutes)

- Motion speech time reduced from 60 to 30 seconds

- Clarified the distinction between "move to previous question" and "move into voting procedure"

- Minor wording clarification on resolution formatting (Rule 5.5)

- Year references updated from 2018 → 2026
