Work and Leave Policy- Haarith Lab
All employees of the Haarith lab must adhere to all the work and leave policies of the University.
Lab members must adhere to all and any lab rules governing cleanliness, safety, and organization of the lab.
Graduate students are expected to work at least 20 hours a week on their research projects alone.
Graduate students are expected to, and postdocs are encouraged to attend relevant weekly seminars in addition to working on their research projects.
All research staff are expected to contribute to and participate in periodic lab meetings and journal clubs in addition to working on their research projects, during mutually agreed upon times.
Although we strive to be goal-oriented and not time oriented, employees are expected to keep reasonable working hours that overlap with other colleagues, adviser(s), mentors, and support staff.
Graduate students are generally expected to train and mentor undergraduate students and help them comply with Haarith lab and University policies and expectations.
Research staff are expected to manage their time efficiently during the week to complete their work and not work during the weekends unless there is no alternative.
Lab members are expected to maintain dignity and decorum at meetings, conferences and other events while representing the lab.
Lab members are expected to plan, discuss, and seek consent from the adviser for long vacations and non-emergency leaves within reasonable time in advance.
Lab members must make alternate plans for the maintenance of their plants, cultures, and experiments while on vacation and long leave, and inform the adviser of the same.
