can give or take despair to anyone. The downside is she experiences each despair intake she takes and to get rid of it is to give it away.

Description

miss depression herself. she uses her ability to help others when they need it, but silently suffers through it because she doesn't want to hurt others by exchanging the pain to someone. she's in charge of therapy for everyone, luckily she's very good at talking to everyone, and only uses her ability when someone's mentality is unstable. due to her taking so much despair, mason 49 is being her therapist for the time being with Kool the voice chakra to help communicate things, and to give some of the Despair to Ray 65 for his masochism including mental pain too, luckily it's monthly. she's tries cheering up everyone and keep spirits up without using her ability.

she's a member of Health Ethical Angelic Lifeguards (HEAL). she takes care of victims mental health and assures them that everything will be ok. even for missions that include suicidal targets, Lauren takes the despair and the whole squad helps the individual quickly, giving all the support and help they need.

Backstory

miss depressed. Lauren grew up with a single found parent in a great depression era; many poor, people sad, many feeling like life is meaningless. Lauren did her best to work around all the sadness and help others; planting gardens, cleaning the litter, and working hard for any penny she could get. Lauren does her best to cheer the folks up and brighten the situation of the crumbling minds. One day at age 8, Lauren started school and soon accidentally activated her ability. Lauren was just playing with the other kids and one of them fell down and hurt their knee. The kid got patched up but the kid kept crying the whole day. Lauren held the kids hand and gave them a smile, saying everything is gonna be alright as her ability unintentionally activates. Taking the kid’s negative emotions, Lauren began to understand his pain and soon cried instead. The kid now emotionally better and Lauren upset, everyone was shocked at the events as if the two swapped places. From then, Lauren learned her ability and helped take the pain from others as she suffers instead and others become happy and slowly fix the state of their era; working hard, seeing a brighter future, holding brighter smiles as Lauren forces hers from all the pain. As Lauren grew up, the more greedy people became of Lauren's help and the more Lauren’s mind began to deteriorate slowly, but Lauren always told herself that it was for the greater good to make everyone happy and better. Unfortunately, the more Lauren helped, the more she felt all the pains of others and understood many sufferings; seeing their anger, seeing their sadness, seeing their fears… it was all becoming too much as her eyes lost their shine and she kept moving aimlessly in the world… until one day, she was walking across the street but wasn’t paying attention to her surroundings… as a vehicle was heading straight towards her… too frightened to move, Lauren stood there as the vehicle came closer… but Lauren didn’t die… instead she was saved by Lifehacker in the nick of time as Lifehacker flew up with Lauren in their arms. After finding a place to sit down, Lifehacker comforted but scolded Lauren for not checking her surroundings and that she shouldn’t shoulder so many burdens alone. Lauren begins to cry as Lifehacker just held Lauren in a hug and holds the child close until she cried out all the pain she has built up… seconds… minutes… hours past of Lauren crying and Lifehacker hugging her and patting her back until she cried herself to sleep, but even then Lauren still cried in her sleep. Lifehacker took Lauren in from that moment and try to rehabilitate Lauren on using her ability responsibly instead of taking burdens. Lauren has her therapies with Mason 49 as she still uses her ability for worse case scenarios and tough minds, but she hesitates on using it against someone after learning that she can give it away too. It was when she was helping Ray 65 and Ray asked Lauren if she could do it in reverse, she tried it on Ray and it worked. As a result Ray also became an emotional masochist too and Lauren is terrified at using her ability in reverse, but this helped Lauren relieve some of the burdens as secretly the two talk during Ray’s therapy and both help each other platonically and in whatever sense of healthy transaction. Lauren still cheers everyone up but without her ability in use and wears a bodysuit to conceal her ability even more. Still slightly numb and dead in the eyes, she still has her cheerful smile.
