The European Union is an optimistic and forward-looking institution which wishes to reduce violent conflict between Europeans while promoting diplomatic, economic and cultural partnerships between its constituent members. We recognize this mission as noble in its intent and hope that it will some day live up to its promise. However, currently the European Union blindly stands by as its constituent member states ignore several policies and guidelines meant to protect cultural minorities within European countries. Currently the EU ignores the question of Breton existence and allows France to suppress our language and culture despite outwardly portraying itself as a tolerant and open nation. This hypocrisy cannot be allowed to stand and we demand on behalf of the Breton people, and all other struggling peoples of Europe who face similar ignorance and antagonism, that the European Union live up to its ideals and challenge constituent member states for their unethical practices of silencing and attempting to obscure the minority peoples of Europe.
