Learn + Live + Grow & Thrive.
Guided by the belief that every person should be educated, the Gwendolyn Gives Foundation works to help all people increase their knowledge, health, and cultural experience. Our focus on bettering academic advancement, nutritional knowledge, and cultural awareness, spans across the southeast as we strive to educate society to improve everyone's quality of life.
Although access to higher education has improved over the years, only 40% of African Americans complete a degree within 6 years. We want to increase this percentage. Check out our scholarships page for more information.
A research scientist at Henry Ford Health confirmed that African Americans had the worst overall diet, in comparison to other ethnic groups, and Americans were eating less fruits and more saturated fat. We want to educate our communities on healthy eating and dietary choices. Check out our Gwen's Garden House page for more information.
Dr. Strayhorn, once said, "belonging shapes the interpretive lens or aperture that people use to make meaning of moments, encounters, or experiences." We believe in creating cultural opportunities for people to sense and know that they belong: in our communities, in society, and in our world. To learn more about our cultural endeavors, see our cultural awareness page.
