You Are What You Eat!
Jan 3, 2024
It was not uncommon to see our founder, Gwendolyn cooking for her family, teaching her children a recipe, or sharing a home cooked meal with friends. She not only enjoyed cooking the local cuisine of her culture, frogmore stew, collard greens, hoppin john, and gumbo, she was also interested in learning about produce, herbs, spices, and dishes that were not common in her culture. She took this inquisitive nature and shared it with her children, introducing them to new and exotic fruits and vegetables. It was no surprise that she enjoyed eating from the earth, as her parents were farmers and had shown her the blessing of a cultivated seed in the ground.
Gwendolyn believed in feeding her body the best and brightest, while staying true to her cultural cuisine and taste buds. This is why the Gwendolyn Gives Foundation seeks to partner with organizations that educate the local community on healthy eating, nutrition, and dietary practices. We believe families should not only eat well, but eat what pleases their palate.
Gwen's Garden House
Future Project
Gwen's Garden House is a restaurant, serving healthy southern meals, using produce from Gwen's Garden, a local green house and organic garden. This farm to table style restaurant will feature some of the southern regions most favorite foods, but with your cholesterol, heart health, and sugar intake in mind. We will even offer vegan and gluten free options.
Delicious health foods are not the only thing coming out of the Gwen's Garden House kitchen. We will offer cooking and gardening courses, and private party dining options. Visit our page again soon to get updates on these future endeavors!
