Our vision is to cultivate a thriving, resilient community rooted in cultural pride, food sovereignty, and sustainable agroforestry practices—where youth are empowered caretakers of the land, heritage, and future.
The Grow Tree Grow Community Project empowers Micronesian youth and families through the revitalization of traditional agroforestry, culturally grounded education, and sustainable food systems. By planting trees, sharing knowledge, and strengthening cultural connections, we build resilient communities, promote environmental stewardship, and ensure a nourishing future rooted in heritage and self-reliance.
The Grow Tree Grow Community Project is a community-based initiative formed through a partnership between the US Forest Service, the Kaulunani Urban Forestry Program (within the Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife), and Micronesians United-Big Island, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This collaborative effort integrates federal, state, and local nonprofit expertise to effectively support locally grown agroforestry trees, deliver education on best practices, and foster cultural and environmental resilience within the Micronesian community.
