With the current War between Russia and Ukraine, Russian crimes are at a high. This Russian Hacking Group made several attacks against businesses, companies, and organizations. They some how can managed to get inside several computer programs related to important information. This important information helped them gain leads on Ukraine's planned arrangements against Russia. This had to be super helpful when it came to being two-steps ahead of Ukraine.
As we All know Internet dating was viewed as new but is now apart of the social norms of society. So this Lady was online-dating, surfing a dating app and came across this man. As they got to know each other via text. Eventually the comfort level began to increase and the man felt he had the lady wrapped around his finger. He began asking for money for several of odd reasons. So she began to send money out of love and empathy for the man of her dreams at the time. But, as time went by she realized something wasn't right she didn't just think she was falling in love but, that she was being scammed. She ended up being in debt for over 90k.
So a 63 year old man was having virus problems with his Microsoft Laptop. He searched for a Microsoft customer service line to get help. So, he reached what he though was a customer service line but it ended up being a scam. He ended of getting scammed for $1.7 million dollars after the scammer asked for his bank information. This is one of the cybercrimes that we hear more offend. So scammers and hackers create websites that look like a customer help line but, it's not. This is very similar to those "Scam likely' call where they'll tell you that you won something and than ask for all your personal information.
I believe that all three of these cybersecurity crimes could be prevented by being more careful of what goes on the internet. Using virus protections help keep important information safe. Some virus protection plan actual show you when you search up websites that are used as scams. Also the old fashioned change of passwords or even using Google's suggested password could be helpful. Not to mention but it would be important to make technology more assessable and learnable for older people.
