About Us

GrowIN Intergenerational Community Programming is a non-profit organization that provides programming and education around nutrition, wellness and the arts.

We aim to deliver modifiable and enriching programs to help participants of all ages engage in meaningful activities and build relationships that bridge the age gap.

Who are We?

GrowIN was established in March 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a glaring need for community connection and engagement, especially for those that were most impacted by the pandemic.

Lauren Feyh and Shannon Erskine wanted to leverage their experience and skills in intergenerational programming, volunteerism, and nutrition and wellness to meet this need. GrowIN was built to provide meaningful opportunities for engagement and build intentional connections in the community.

Intergenerational What?

Intergenerational (IG) programming are activities that facilitate interaction between any two generations, and typically associated with interactions between children and older adults. Historically, these types of programs have been designed to engage participants in a single activity over a period of time to allow them to build a relationship together. IG programs are highly modifiable to meet the needs and goals of participants. IG programming has been shown to decrease isolation, decrease depression, build a sense of community, and reduce ageism.

GrowIN expands the traditional model of IG programming by inviting community members of ALL ages to participate. We partner with fellow community organizations to expand our reach, and to deliver in-person and virtual programs. Our goal as an organization is to deliver programs where all participants can be successful and engaged.
