The people here had the opportunity to answer our 7 questions from our interview but, "They don't talk much about it as for them its a nightmare."
One district in a mountain area there are 6,000 families. Earlier in 2020 some relief was to be given out in the form of 6,000 pesos. Someone working within the barangay (council) told us only 750 families (that is only 12.5%) received their relief. The rest we have to assume was withheld by those with power in the barangay. Some people who did not receive the relief spoke up against the barangay demanding that they get it too but still didn't.
Then in October 2020 a second round of relief was released of the same amount. However this time we are not sure how many families received funding but what happened to the ones who missed out last time but spoke up, they got 6,000 for this time and 6,000 also from the time they missed out. No doubt the extra 6,000 was taken from other people who should be getting relief in October, I do not have further details at this stage but it clearly shows the corruption and lack of care for the people. 6,000 pesos is equivalent to 125 USD. Rice cost is about 50 pesos/kg (1 USD/kg) so 6,000 pesos would buy 125 kg of rice. At a consumption rate of 3kg of rice per person per week, this would last a family of 5 (15 kg/week) 2 months.
Photos in this group is from our third round of hand outs thanks to a generous donation from a friend in Manila. One sack of rice helps to strengthen the spirits of many.
We need to expand our efforts as soon as possible.
I am Alvin from the Philippines and now, I am about to share my story about how Covid-19 affects my life. I am fully aware that this pandemic has caused such an impact to us human beings. The pandemic has affected thousands of people, including me. However, It also had a positive and negative impact to each one of us but it taught me one thing that I will never forget and it is about surviving. Surviving means we have to be able to sustain ourselves it includes basic needs which is food, water, and shelter. There are thousands of people that are starving, because of the absences of food they are not able to live but for some people, they are forced to do bad things such as stealing money or food from people or from their local stores. Apparently, If any person doesn't have these kind of basic needs, one cannot survive. Thus, we must have these basic needs in order to survive. Through, this fundraising you can adequately help a person like me, who needs food, water and shelter. You can save someone's life in a way to voluntarily giving help to those in need .

Emergency Funds Required Now...
Philippines Continuous Lockdown breaking people/communities
Here in the Philippines we have been in a non-stop lockdown since it began in March 2020. Many people in the provinces are doing it really tough, particularly if they are unable to grow their own foods etc.
Snapshot of Living in Lockdown in the words of a local... (English is not the main language)
“When the lockdown came into my place everything is gone, my dream to go to manila to work and my dream to help my family out of these situations. I’m so struggling and I want some help but who could i ask for i don't know someone who could help as they are in need of help too.”
“The reason why I want to work in manila as the salary there was a bit bigger than in my province and so in that way I give what my family needs in here but its all gone because of this virus.”
“Its expensive if I go travel as I must pay 4500 pesos for the swab test. Plus it double pay to travel as of now.” (Pay in a café for 7 hours at the moment is 200 pesos only.)
“Sometimes we go get small shells from sea to survive and go mountain get a banana and run if the owner saw. 😂 Its bad to get plant that not ours but we need to survive too." 😔
“My mom, nieces, and sister they get really sick because of the lockdown my brothers have no work and me because not I’m allowed to travel.”
“We thought we were gonna lost our mother for the illness she'd been because she didn't eat any food for almost a week but I am glad and thanks to God she finally recovered as I don't want to lost my mom I cry every night of seeing my mother not eating any food within 4 days. 😢 My mom had a hot body because of fever and she doesn't like to eat anything as her throat is so sore to swallow foods.”
“Then after than my father get sick and my sister and me. Maybe it because we haven't lack of food and vitamins in our bodies. My eldest brother is very sick almost a month didn't go to work construction.”
“We all are in the same situation and need a help. 😔 I went last Sunday in church ask for forgiveness and being thank him for keeping me and my family alive and survived."
"We go get some leaves of sweet potatoes from the rice planter but people come and ask for it so we share. We all have same condition so hard to find food, struggling."
"There are 15 houses in the community with numbers of people per house like; 8,16, 5,12, 9, etc. The husband of my neighbour and three adults here so four persons have died in my place so far."
"They bring them to hospital but was dead already. They died because they didn't breath. So helpless. Like I could die at anytime. Its hungry, that's all I feel every day."
“The barangay help with 2 kilos rice and 2 can goods but it was a long time ago. We use solar lamp to save electricity. 1 sack of rice lasts us for 1 month.”

Example to Raise Awareness...
The Dark Side of Philippines
(Extreme Poverty)
12,500 bags were handed out for the people who really needed it. Each bag feeds a family for few days.
NOTE: This video was made before the lockdown and the situation has since deteriorated due to reduced employment.
A YouTube comment to above video by Mia P:
It is so easy to judge when you do not know the conditions. At 12 years old I had a choice ( sleep in a park, slums or a cemetery? ) I lived this way for nearly 4 years, alone with my twin sister. Somehow by the grace of God I still managed to work and educate myself. Today at 27 years old, I have been a flight attendant for 6 years. Perhaps not the best of careers (wanted to be a vet) but still proud of myself and so appreciate for what I have in life. You will never know how appreciative you will be of simply drinking bottled water or having a warm shower after being homeless. I just can't imagine today how even more challenging it is then when I was there with this pandemic going on. Stay safe everyone and God bless!donorbox...
If you are able to donate a small amount please know it will not go unnoticed. Be sure it goes direct to those in need.
We post photos of all food handed out. God bless!

Any Comments you would like to add regarding the Lockdown situation...
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 1 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
No, because it effect the mental and spiritual health of the individual and it effects their livelihood and it causes too much stress financially and emotionally and there is no life during lockdown because you can not interact with people and your action is too limited. It leaves people confused because the government keeps changing their regulations and there is not enough funding and support that we are getting.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
The lockdown crisis because I only heard a lot of cases in the media about Covid and I don’t know anyone who got it but I know a lot of people effected by the lockdown because they are starving and stress from borrowing money from other people to survive everyday.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
Going back to normal where people can enjoy being outside and opportunity to get a job.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
Mentally and physically pressure.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
Enough financial support to start on or get work.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
That would be great if they supply that amount to each individual. Normally they give nothing like that and it is never enough.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
Stop the bull shit! The department of health is saying we need to get better masks which mean they can earn from it and more expenses.
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 2 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
No, all the movement is being limited and there is no freedom. So much is now missing in our lives. But we can not do anything because they have power and we are forced to follow them about the masks, QR Codes, following your numbers (which day you are aloud out). We can only go out 3 times a week following our numbers. Our freedoms are getting less and less, we can’t do anything against them. We are already poor but during the lockdown we are getting even poorer. We struggle everyday to survive.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
Both. I feel fear even going to the hospital because of the Covid-19. I choose not to go to the hospital as I might be charged as a Covid-19 patient even though I don’t have it. I know what is wrong with me but if you go to hospital they will say you have symptoms of Covid, because thats what I hear in the media. The lockdown give us no choice but give us a problem because we can not go out to look for an income. Every day is a struggle because of the limited sources. Worse there is no source of money so we have to budget our food very strictly. There is a big change. There is no freedom and it give us stress.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
I can not say as I do not have the power. Everything is now dependant on the government so it is useless trying to think of any solution because we have to follow the rules and regulations of the government. I would like things to be back to how it was before but this is dependent on the government. Other people say the same answer, it is always dependant on the government. For example if you go out you will be caught by the police because you are not following the rules and you will go to prison or get a penalty. We have no choice in any of our freedoms.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
Full of problems, exhausted, tired, stressed, hopeless and worry. A little bit depressed. Also always living so close to everyone it puts a lot of stress on all family members. Plus the stress of working out how to survive through this situation, foods etc. The media also said during this situation a lot have separated, more crime and high pregnancy rates because there are no activities outside we are always staying at home. As seniors we need fresh air, exercise, interaction which is not allowed and it makes us sick mentally. Always fighting in the family from these stresses.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
My husband can go back to work, at least a small income can manage to survive everyday. Maybe this is why my husband is not in a good condition because he lost his job and this made him stressed. Going back to normal. Having money again is the most important thing.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
This would be a big help especially for the poor families because this is the main needs during this situation right now. Most of the poor can not afford to have three meals a day.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
I would like the situation back to normal as soon as possible including kids being able to go to school. No more worries, no more fear. Even the children are suffering, they are also affected by the situation.
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 3 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. .Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
Yes, I think so because they can manage the people well and it well lessen the pollution. The people manage to be responsible as they have to follow the rules ang regulations of the government. At the same time it makes the people confuse and stress by the rules cause of so many limited actions during the lockdown.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
Lockdown cause people losing their job and no more source of income. People are struggling and suffering from starvation. As a student it gives us a stress cause of the lockdown we force to do our own study without the help of the teachers. And overload of homework. Instead of weekend we supposed to have a Free day but we used it as well to do homework and study.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
Government should give a job in able to sustain their daily expenses and make them busy not just at home it gives them stress and mentally pressure.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
Advantage it allows us to have time to the family. Time to think, and allow us to have idea and to discover more about our self like we able to do painting, reading books and navigate online games. Disadvantage: Limited interaction. Cant go anywhere, no fresh air, no travel, cant visit relatives.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
Cooperation, provide job, livelihood program, financial assistance,
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
It lessen the expenses of weekly budget, it make the people be creative how to make different dish using can sardines.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
Back to normal.
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 4 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. .Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
Yes, In order to prevent the Covid. To reduce people get effected.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
Lockdown crisis because the situation is getting worse cause the people cant go out. Losing job, struggling by the situation. Shortage of food supply cause no money to support daily expenses.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
Government should implement program that can give work to people to continue their incomes not just depending on financial support which is not enough. Teach them how to fish not to give them fish in able to have independent income to support.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
Very much struggling, lack of financial, lack of budget for foods, no extra income, no medical fund, fear to go to hospital cause might charge Covid patients, cant go out without FM (food and medicine pass), limited movement, and stress overall. Like my daughter who had asthma but we cant go to the hospital cause of the situation and my son who had skin diseases its getting worse due of fear of going to hospital.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
Alternative job from government in able for us to work ,not just depending on financial support whish is not enough, additional salary enough to sustain foods and daily expenses. Like 500php per person for a week.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
Its already a big help at least it lessen the expenses and we can use money for extra.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
I want it back to normal. If ever there is a fund or program like 3kls of rice , sardines and 250 pesos a week would be a great help to lessen the situation right now.
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 5 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. .Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
I believe no, because lot of people suffering of too much hungry lack of foods. Because a lot of people of my surrounding starving cause of the lockdown especially to those people who got Covid the family is suffering cause the whole family will be lockdown and lack of support. Covid lockdown is not good for me.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
Lockdown crisis, Covid is normal cause the symptoms is just normal like flu but why they have to put the people in lockdown. Everyone can get ill but lockdown make the people suffer. We can go to hospital get better and have so many recoveries but lockdown people are starving and suffering everyday to survive.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
Back to normal. So that people can do everything including work. End the threatening the people of getting penalty from not wearing mask and face shield.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
I feel so bad and not good. I feel sad because for me I heard people suffering and even my family. They are poor before and getting poorest today.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
Financial support and enough goods support.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
Maybe they can survive starvation and better than nothing.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
Stop lockdown, let the people do what they normally do and let stop the doctor announcing Covid.
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 6 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. .Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
Yes I believe. Because of face shield mask etc.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
Lockdown is worse because the people have no work. The companies are closed. A lot of person get sick because no food or money, no livelihood.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
Stay home.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
Sad, its very hard. The passenger (the person being interviewed is a driver) is much less unlike to how it was before.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
Give a lots of mask to block the covid 19. I would like more food.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
Its very good.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
No, because my English is not good. (lol)
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 7 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
Maybe because the government believe that Covid really exist and so they make a story to put us into lockdown so in my opinion I dont know if it is true or not I just follow. I hear in the news they are going to make us wear another mask and this means we have to buy another mask again and it doesnt make sense. I also heard that the vaccine will arrive and the first people to recieve it will be the health workers and none of them want to take it. The senatars are saying Phil Health will shoulder the expenses of side-effects for people from taking the vaccine.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
The lockdown, because of this I lost my job. They have now closed permanately (movie theatre). It means no income, no food so what happen, I am drowning from loans.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
It seems like the agenda is to kill everyone so why not put an atomic bomb so no one is suffering anymore. Many people are suffering a lot, starvation, crying, depression, everyone is following the rules from those people in higher position.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
Stress from loosing the work. Depressed unable to go out as a senior citizen (age is 63) and hopeless because we can not ask anyones help because even our own family memebers are struggling. Irritated most of the time and it cause trouble between me and my wife as always discussing what we can do to survive.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
They should put things back to normal how it used to be. Stop all these new rules and give us our freedom back.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
It will make the situation less of a struggle at least in a small way, it is better than nothing so at least you have something to cook and prepare for your family.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
The lockdown should be ended in order for the people to go back to work if they still have a job because those of the establishments are already closed. When is the fund going to release?
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 8 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
Yes, in order to prevent the spread of the virus and also we dont have choice but to follow what the government say.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
The lockdown. During the lockdown I lost my job for 6 months and we struggled to have foods. There is no source of income and just depending on the government support which is not enough. We got 6000 pesos once in May and once in August and this money was used to pay loans I had to take to survive.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
As Filipino we just follow rules and regulations of the government and they know better what is good for everyone. There is no choice but to follow because we can’t do anything.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
Crisis and divested as the source of income is too low. (15 days including 2 days rest earning 2,000 but it is supposed to be 4,000 but half is deducted with my requirements.)
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
They should increase the salary because the expenses have increased too much because of Covid.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
Its very ok, its a big help to reduce the expenses especially the poor people to help them to survive each week.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
I want the truth to be revealed that the virus is not really that fatal.
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 9 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
Its very confusing, it seems like maybe they use it in order to control the people. Because for me it is already obvious that there is a business involved. Once the vaccine arrives they say things will get back to normal. There is a hidden agenda. The only good thing that happened from the lockdown is the QR Code enabled the government to get a lot criminals.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
Of course the lockdown as a tricycle driver there are not a lot of passengers compared to before. For me the Covid can be cured but the lockdown makes us sick because it makes us stressed. On Sunday there are no passengers. Also because there is no school. And most establishments are closed. Plus there is a lot of competition because now there are so many drivers. This causes trouble between drivers too as we need passengers. There are days we only eat twice, there are no snacks most days.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
For what I see now it is very difficult but we are always looking for other ways to earn another income. We have to do what the government is saying because the government control everything like for example you cant go out according to your numbers. The vaccine worries me because they will stop us from going places unless we have it.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
We are struggling, stressed, worried, exhausted, devastated and our income is not like it was before. Before earning 300 to 500 pesos but now I may manage to earn 60 pesos for the entire day! 500 down to 60 is too low.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
For me it should be back to normal but since we don't have power we are still hopeless to follow the rules.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
Its a big difference already, an additional source of food and the money that we earn can be used for other stuff.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
Mostly it is a disadvantage as most people are suffering. All these questions are dependant on the government. It seems like the government are making fun of the people. For example they are implementing a national ID and we dont know why and it is extra cost and we are powerless to stand up to the government as you will get a case filed against you or worse you may end up dead. Most of the poor people will give you the same answer to what I have. The government is too powerful and those have stood up have had case and penalty against them.
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 10 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
No. The whole thing is totally ridiculous. It would take a long time to talk about this...mis-information, lies, corruption, its a financial operation, its not just a hoax.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
Its basically all one in the same. Once you know it is a hoax, the hole thing is offensive. Everything about it. It is totally showing us that they are trying to control us completely. Contact tracing etc. There is nothing good about it at all.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
1. Throw out everyone in the medical profession who believes in the germ or virus theories. 2. Throw out all politicians who have accepted personal gain from a medical/drug companies. (Basically that would be nearly every doctor that has be trained normally.) Because really that is what has got to happen, people are not being cured of anything. We are still on the theory of germs and viruses.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
Grossly annoyed, totally annoyed.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
The head of almost every government of the world will have to be replaced by a real and logical human being. The end of agendas because agendas are driving people to annoy each other.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
No difference. Rice and pesos is not what I need. We need a return to sanity.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
In addition to previous answers, if heads of government were sane and logical. The thing that the world needs is a sane approach to health and happiness. We have to move back towards nature. A lot of technical advances are costing us more than any value they could add.
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 11 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
In my own way of thinking, i do believe that those who are empowered people are doing the right thing with the lockdown owing to the fact that the blue-collar and white-collar people has their own privilege to follow it's command of the empowered people which is the government. The government showed to citizens of their nation that they are all trying their very best to diverse and adapt the new normal.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
One of the first thing that affected me the most is my emotional security because i am not that sure if i can survive this phenomenon together with my family. Second is not having a work due to the lockdown, everything is being transitioned into technology or we say, online stuff that i am not familiar of.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
Change is the only constant in life. In depth, there are a lot of things that needs to be changed however, nothing comes easy. Therefore, we have to adapt changes because again, change is constant.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
I feel so grateful the fact that I survived the pandemic specifically that I am able to feed my family. As of now, grateful is the exact emotion that i am feeling right now.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
Basically, I've got a lot on my plate right now. I can not summon everything. Maybe I need money for food consumption too and for every day needs.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
Yes, that would help me a lot and also other people that those who are in need too. I am very grateful for that kind of funding because there are also a lot of people who are misfortune and those privileged people like you would mean so much for me because you are an example of a person who has a good heart.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
I hope this will end soon. I am praying for everyone to survive this pandemic and so am I. In God we trust, we can pull through.
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 12 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
No because those in power are just making lockdown just for their own benefit like getting funds in the govt but no exact distribution of the said fund.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid-19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
The lockdown itself because i lost my job. I lost my job, i don't have a food to eat.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
Livelihood. Dissemination of food can make things easier because it will feed a lot of people.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
Not good. Its sad because i am not able to feed my family.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
Financial support to start at least a small livelihood cause economic downfall that results to poverty.

RESPONSES INTERVIEW 13 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
Yes I believe in the lockdown because we don’t have a choice to disagree with it and you will get caught but Covid I don’t believe it exists.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
The lockdown. Covid is just the flu and can be cured but lockdown effects our daily life as there is no job and our action is too limited. My mum died because of the lockdown because my mum did not get her medical attention. She was being ignored because they prioritise Covid patients and she just needed medical attention. There was also no transportation available at that time. The hospital did not accept her even thought they brought her to the hospital. Then she died in the middle of the night. Even during the week most family members could not attend the wake because of the lockdown situation. If there was no lockdown my mum would still be alive. It seems like a lot of people are dying during the lockdown but not because of the Covid. Bill Gates monopolise the entire world. Why is Gates the one declaring about it? It is just about money, power and business. I consider the vaccine as a mercy killing for the people. And maybe this is the beginning of microchipping the people. Its not just Gates but the people in our government who join in this kind of action. The lockdown causes poverty.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
People in low class families should get support from the government because their action is limited and they can’t go get work. There is no more food and financial support. Also they should tell the truth about the situation because it is already a question that it not right for us to be in lockdown anymore...let people be free to do what they have to do. They should supply support. If they keep continuing the lockdown they should keep providing assistance to poor families.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
So far neutral, go with the flow, normal. At least right now its not too strict right now and I have my job right now. (His in a security force against terrorist forces against attacking a banana plantation.)
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
The poor are getting poorer due to the lockdown and they must attend to these people because I know a lot of people struggling from this situation. They may eat only once a day. These people really need assistance. Myself alone I can survive. Hopefully soon they can build their lives back to normal. Hopefully we can afford to help 100’s of families. That people are willing to help the poor.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
Its already grateful and great happiness can not exchange for money. Whoever those people to provide it we are so very grateful. If it is really available I give it to others who most need it.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…
As soon as possible the lockdown should end so people can go back to their jobs. End the situation of Covid. We need help right now though.
RESPONSES INTERVIEW 14 (Clip Arrow to Open)
1. Do you believe the those in power are doing the right thing with the lockdown & why?
It could be yes and no. The pollution is less because of the shut down factories. No because a lot of people do not have a job because of the lockdown.
2. What is affecting you the most, the Covid -19 crisis or the lockdown itself?
Lockdown as my job was shut down for 5 months and now my income is reduced by a third.
3. What changes could be made to make things easier?
Follow the rules of the government. It is hard to tell as it difficult for our boss. But really it is not enough to live day to day. All we can do is understand each other and wait for things to get back to normal.
4. How do you feel about your exact circumstances right now?
Struggle because there is no income for 5 months and when there is a job the income is reduced. Also my husband has much less work as there is far less customers. We have to budget with cheaper value food in order to eat. There is also no interaction, we just have to stay at home. It is a very depressing struggle.
5. What would reduce your current concerns the most?
The biggest concern is the salary but I understand they can not afford to pay more so there is not much that can be done. I don't want to take a day off work but the boss wants me to. Lack of budget for my boss but also for me. The government support was only twice in one year (6,000 pesos and we had to line up for the whole day both times.) Twice we have received rice 5kg each time.
6. What difference would a small amount of funding in rice and pesos make each week & why? (Proposed amount to be funded is 3 kg’s of rice, and a few cans of fish and 250 pesos cash per person/week.)
It is a really big help. It would be really good. Can survive a week. We would continue as we are but it would be much easier to survive.
7. Any comments you would like to add regarding the lockdown situation…At least they should remove wearing the face shields. The government should give small job for those who lost their jobs or people who don’t have income. There are jobs available but there are high requirements to get these jobs. They focus too much on education level but not on the person’s own capabilities to do the actual job. For example call centres were interested in basic English skills but now they require high graduate to be considered.

Comments: This family could end its education but this is their only likely way to break out of the poverty cycle. Funding this family could questioned as not being desperate but I know they do not have any expenses on anything that is not totally necessary and are still short while being graciously supported by an aunt in another city who is able to keep her business alive. (She sells fish which is considered an essential industry.) Also their home is under threat of being demolished any time as they live in a squatter area (they have been there many years) which is being developed by the government as a major infrastructure project.
[Photos are included to show some living conditions, without being too personally invasive.]
This series of photos are in squatter area of Davao City soon to be demolished due to a government project. People have lived here for generations. They live very poorly and are struggling even more due to the continuous lockdown.
(Please also refer to Filipino Family Budget above.)
Poor in Wealth, Rich in Spirit...Filipino kids are tough and they have to be in these conditions. At the same time they have an amazing rich spirit and are ready to smile.
Filipino Senior in Lockdown
Philippines has been experiencing a continuous lockdown for 11 months. Hear from a senior, in a poorer area, how it is creating more of a struggle for everyone. The question on everyone's mind is how necessarily is all this loss of personal freedom and financial struggle?

Reality Check 1st World vs 3rd World:
Most people who live in modern, first-world countries have no clue what it's like to struggle against a system that barely provides them the means to survive. I'm going to interview several common Filipinos, and see how they meet this struggle, and what their hopes and dreams are for the future. Prepare to be underwhelmed.
There is an ingrained system of perpetual poverty here, and while I don't have the answers, I'll at least take a look at what things are really like for people fighting to stay above water here in the Philippines.......
Our Youtube Comment to this Video:
Wow, so many comments already, obviously a touching topic and report. I am currently seeking funding so more who are desperate can be helped. I will include your video as part of my appeal and keep you updated. Could you kindly do a similar interview in a province area to add to this so more people can see how it is? The lockdown situation has not helped and the more we can show others how it is, the more we can potentially help just a little...so they can get through these times. I hold hope for a brighter future around the corner for all. Keep up the great work!
Poverty Worldwide (as of a couple years ago):
There were 800 million people living on less than $1.25 a day.
At $2.5 a day we’re talking about 2.7 billion people.
At $3.5 a day about half the world’s population!
Reality Check...Third World Lockdown Comparison
People in 1st world rarely get to really know the reality of the poor in 3rd world places. In the 1st world I hear people talking about things like what media device to use etc. while in the 3rd world these people are now getting to the point of simply not talking at all.
The reality right now is many are now feeling shame for their situation and some (usually the older) are choosing to die so overs can live, due to their lack of foods. When people stop talking it is not a good sign!
The 1st world must begin making decisions for the 3rd world voiceless poor who live in country areas and our basically powerless. Many don't own land or have the current ability to grow their own foods. What foods can be grown can quickly go as many are hungry.(People are also afraid of authorities with too much control.)
Often people in the 1st world get defensive when I speak about what is going on or they divert the conversation. So let me ask, do we simply just say these people are helpless and nothing can be done? Is this the way forward for an advancing community of caring loving people? What can be done?
I am here on the ground in the Philippines and I have started to get to know communities. I have enough of a foot in the door to the lives of people here to know who would be in need for the very smallest of funds. It is very possible for these people to be helped within the next few days with people like yourself stepping up to support. And this is what they need.
My personal situation is I have no savings anymore. I have had no income for nearly a year. I came this trip to the Philippines for just 2 months and I am now here just over 1 year. (I have been coming here for over 6 years). My flights were cancelled due to the lockdown about a week before I was set to return to Australia. (We have remained locked down with quite strict control ever since. I have appealed to the Australian government for personal help but with no response.)
I have helped out a little a few times with different families during this crisis but my remaining money is now so very little and I can not keep doing this. The honest truth is we need help here and its simply not a fashion statement, this is real life!
Please help if you can, it is the right thing to do, any support will go direct to helping those who are already very hungry. The simple fact is, help will not come to these people otherwise!

Although some Emergency Foods has being distributed, much more is needed:
PROJECT 1 PROPOSAL:
Emergency funds and food will be given at ground level to all those that we can identify as most in need immediately.
We can identify these people by beginning an home to home interview of the locals.
The intense lockdown (11 months continuous/highly restrictive) has made a great number of people weak and vulnerable to illness due to having less food and lower quality very basic food. People who needed medications often can not continue to afford it.
Rice and a small amount of funds will be donated to help them attend to their most urgent needs.
We would allocate a small amount to each individual in food and a few pesos every 2 weeks.
Independency will be encouraged with suggestions in nutrition from local plants will be given including immunity boosting plants.
The growing of beneficial plants even if only a very small area will be encouraged.
We will supply our soil conditioner & seeds (to the value of 1 USD each) to boost soil quality to help people to start growing wherever they can.
Community veggie garden growing will be encouraged.
Your help will be used to encourage further help through creating a photo of each who receives something...Happy faces making more happy faces!
