Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the most famous volcanos and mountains in the world. Many have worked to keep this place safe and protected. Mt. Kilimanjaro is considered a national park and is protected by the Tanzanian government. Mt. Kilimanjaro became a national park in 1973 because of its unique appearance and the surrounding area was something that should not be touched or destroyed. (3)
Some ways that the park is protected is by having a management plan. Their management plan consists of having multiple rangers keeping watch over the park and having people keep the visual aspects of the park appealing. Keeping the park clean and attractive is a very important point of the management plan.
Mt. Kilimanjaro national park faces some issues due to a variety of things. Climate change is one thing impacting the parks visual appearance because it is melting the glaciers on top of the mountain. The park also deals with societal pressures because the property is seen as an infrastructure opportunity. Many are blinded by economic benefits instead of appreciating the beauty of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
