The first thing we started building was our alarm
The first thing we built was the alarm. Although we didn't get it on the first try, we were still able to figure it out.
As we were building the timer we encountered many problems that we could not identify throughout the building process. We decided to take it apart and rebuild it many times until we finally got it right with the help of the TAs. Overall the project was challenging and frustrating to make but was worth it when we finally git it right.
The next thing we built was the logic circuit. The circuit, as expected, didn't work the first time, because we forgot to connect the chips to power. It didn't work correctly the second time, or the third time either . Although the alarm worked, the green light wouldn't turn on, and the yellow and red light would sometimes be on at the same time. We found out that this is because the connections of the yellow light were messed up.
Here we were able to get it to work with the flipping of switches, but it wasn't attached to the clock.
After rewiring, and rewiring, and rewiring, we were finally able to get it to work. Specific rewiring we did was fixing loose connection between wires that caused the yellow lights to go on with the green. However, due to loose wires, lights sometimes go on when they are not supposed to, but that can be fixed with jiggling the switches. The lights were also not blinking with the clock because the clock was going to fast for the lights. The clock was working though!
