Before making our real rocket, we learned how to build rockets by making a stomp rocket and a straw rocket. We made the stomp rocket by wrapping a piece of card stock around a PVC pipe and taping it, and then adding wings and a nose. We made the straw rocket the same way, but we used paper and wrapped it around a straw.
Here is a picture of our rocket. We made the rocket by wrapping paper around a PVC pipe and gluing the paper together. Then we cut the fins out of balsawood and hot glued them to the rocket. Then we made the nose by sanding a piece of balsawood into a bullet like shape. Then we cut a small piece of PVC pipe and stuck it into the rocket so it can hold the engine. Lastly we made a parachute out of a piece of a trash bag and some string. We glues the strings of the parachute to the bottom of the nose and glued a string to the bottom of the nose and the top of the rocket so when the parachute comes out, the rocket is still attached to the nose.
The first time we launched the rocket everything worked correctly. The only problem we had was that the parachute didn't completely inflate because the strings were tied around it. The second time we launched it, it didn't work because the engine was in incorrectly
