Talk about journey through highschool starting out and the manager role that I took on after highschool
Start with where I started and do chornological order
My role at Avon Chick-fil-A is the Recruitment and Leadership Development Manager. I am in charge of running our leadership program as well as recruiting for our restaurant. Part of my job is mentoring our team and helping coach on different leadership strategies. I really love seeing out team grow and develop to become leaders.
This is the first time our restaurant has had a recruitment role and we had just started creating our leadership program, and the first thing that I did in this role is create a goal list. Goals help define the next steps and shape the path forward for where I want to go. By using goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound, I was able to measure my success in this new role as well as keep myself accountable and on track to make sure I succeed.
(Redo [relate it to part of the goals that were made, also discuss how this was a very new role and the ideas that I had for this]) This proposal contains a SWOT analysis as well as a case study that I conducted which I then presented to our leadership team. The goal was to put into perspective where we are at as a company and what areas we can grow as an organization. The result was after these changes applicant flow increased by 20%.
(Redo [relate it back to the goals]) One of the main problems with the Leadership Program is that there weren't clear expectations or instructions on what they should or shouldn't do. I then decided that I would make a one-page agreement that I would sit down and go through with everyone. The result was that engagement with the program increased significantly and all members knew what was expected of them.
(Redo [relate it to goals that were made as well as add more relevant screenshots or artifacts]) Above is a screenshot of what the leadership program looks like. One major problem that the program had was that it was in English when there was a significant amount of Spanish speakers taking the program. My goal is to have the whole program translated into Spanish by the end of 2022 and the result is that the program has doubled the number of Spanish speakers enrolled in the program and the number of promotions of Spanish-speaking team members. This resulted in a doubling in the number of Spanish speakers participating in the program and ultimately, a 30% increase in Spanish-speaking team members getting promoted.
(Redo the reflection) During my time at Chick-fil-A, I have grown up in so many ways that I couldn't even imagine. I have been given and blessed with so many opportunities that I otherwise wouldn't have without this job. Chick-fil-A taught me how to lead teams and how to care for others. I learned to be a silent leader and the most important lesson of all, I learned that it doesn't take a title to be a leader, but you just need to have the right heart. I will forever remember this job as the job that taught me that I do have a significant impact on others.
