As students, communities, and nations, we're facing a pressing issue that affects us all: climate change. The good news is, there are actionable steps we can take to mitigate its impact. By incorporating simple habits and advocating for broader systemic changes, we can significantly reduce waste, lower emissions, and build resilience. Here are some practical tips to get us started, categorized into individual and collective actions:
TIPS TO HELP SOLVE THE PROBLEM
FOR STUDENTS:
Make it a habit to use reusable products, and as much as possible, choose to repair over replacing items to reduce waste
For transportation, use public transportation or bicycles to help in reducing air pollution. Or the even better option, just walk to your destination.
Compost food waste can help in recycling nutrients while reducing waste impact on the climate.
Reduce your carbon footprint by switching to renewable energy sources and implementing other energy-efficient practices.
Use your digital voice to share credible, science-based facts to help encourage others to help achieve the climate action goal.
FOR COMMUNITIES AND AS A NATION:
Governments need to officially include climate change goals in all their national planning and laws
Local areas must set up early alerts and have warning systems so everyone knows exactly when a disaster is coming
Governments should invest more in clean energy sources such as wind and solar power.
Communities may host programs that bring the people together in discussing climate resilience, hands on activities such as tree planting and clothing swaps.
Every country should make climate change a mandatory part of the school curriculum to prepare the next generation
