GREEK IN COMICS
Ancient texts adapted into comics
In subtitled original version!
Who was the first to imagine “star wars”?
to understand that the Earth revolves around the Sun?
to measure the size of the Earth?
to invent the steam engine?
You may be surprised ...
This site offers free-to-view and -print comics, based on extracts from original texts by authors from ancient Greece.
The subjects are various (fiction, science, medicine, history, travel, theater etc…). Its objective is to introduce these authors to all those who are interested in Antiquity and in the way of living, of thinking, of telling stories, of seeing and of describing the world at that time.
The texts of the bubbles are in original version with the translation opposite. It is therefore not necessary to know the Greek language to read them.
For those who are interested in the language, they offer the possibility to "practice" in a fun way (an explanation of each sentence is given with the vocabulary). At the end of each comic, a short grammar summary is available. Finally, an introductory Greek comic helps to understand the basics. Links and references for learning classical Greek are also available on this site.
Happy reading
Printing tip:
In order to get the most out of the comics, I advise you to print them on both sides so that, once opened, the translations and explanations appear on the left page, next to the images on the right page.
