Qualifications and experience of the supervisor
Dr Maurizio Guadagnini, has 18 years of research experience in the field of experimental mechanics and advanced modelling of concrete elements utilising both conventional and novel reinforcing systems, the modelling of deflection, shear and bond behaviour, and development of design guidelines and codes. He has actively contributed to the activities of Task Group 5.1 of the International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib), of which he is secretary since 2009. He is member of two RILEM Technical Committees on strengthening of masonry and concrete structures, and member of the council of the International Institute for FRP in Construction (IIFC). He has been CI on several EU funded projects and has managed and co-coordinated two large Marie Curie International research training networks, ConFibreCrete and En- Core. Dr Guadagnini was the coordinator of the FP7 funded Marie Curie ITN endure and chair of COST Action TU1207 on the development of ‘Next Generation Design Guidelines for Composites in Construction’. He has published over 100 papers in refereed journals and conferences.
