Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (the Terms) govern your use of the GrassLens app for iPhone and iPad (the app), published by Bohdan Hordiienko (we, us). By downloading or using the app you agree to these Terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies to apps distributed through the App Store. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

What GrassLens does

GrassLens uses an AI model to identify grasses, weeds, sedges, rushes and similar plants from photos, and to show reference information and optional guidance about them. The result is an informed suggestion, not a certified determination.

Results can be wrong

Identifications, confidence labels, alternatives, reference facts and guidance are generated automatically and may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. Similar species can be impossible to tell apart from a photo. Never eat a plant, feed it to animals, apply a herbicide or other treatment, or make any safety, legal, agricultural or financial decision based only on what the app tells you. Verify with a qualified expert and follow the laws and regulations that apply where you are. Information about native, invasive or regulated status is general and may not reflect your region.

Your license

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to install and use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, in line with the App Store terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the app, use it to build a competing dataset or service, automate requests to it, or use it in any way that breaks the law or harms others.

Free use, subscriptions and purchases

The app includes a limited number of free identifications. Unlimited use is offered through auto-renewing subscriptions (weekly or yearly) and a one-time lifetime purchase, all sold by Apple through the App Store. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. A subscription renews automatically at the same price and period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Some plans include a free trial; if you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and your Apple ID is charged. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. The number of free identifications and the plans offered may change over time.

Your photos and content

You keep all rights to the photos and notes you create. You give us and our AI service provider permission to process the photos you choose to submit, solely to produce the identification and related content for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. Only submit photos you have the right to use, and do not submit photos containing other people's personal information.

Reference photos and third-party content

Some illustrations in the app come from openly licensed sources and remain the property of their authors, credited where required. The app, its name, icon, design and text are our property or used under license.

Availability and changes

Identification needs an internet connection and depends on third-party AI services that may be slow, rate-limited or unavailable at times. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, require an update to a newer version, or stop supporting older versions of iOS. We may also refuse or limit service to anyone who abuses it.

No warranty

The app is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss, injury, crop damage, property damage or cost arising from reliance on the app's results or guidance. Our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Termination

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may end your license if you breach these Terms. Sections about your content, disclaimers and limitation of liability survive termination.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The current version with its effective date is always published on this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
