Volunteering is a great way to get away from the office, have fun, develop team-work and learn new skills. Benefit from the great outdoors to boost physical and mental wellbeing by contributing to our community.
Help us fund development projects around our allotment site to offer opportunities for our members and the wider local community.
Could your business donate materials and/or expertise to support our developments.
John Lewis Partner, and member of our Association Michelle, kindly nominated us for support via the local Trafford Centre branch and their Community Liason Coordinator.
John Lewis have provided us with a £1000 grant to to be spent on boosting volunteering opportunities at our Community Plot which will support local people to gain valuable employability skills. John Lewis Partners also rolled up their sleeves and joined our members for gardening and general maintenance at the allotment ground. The extra hands made a fantastic boost to the ongoing work coordinated by our grounds maintainence subgroup.
John Lewis began trading over 150 years ago in 1864 on London's Oxford Street, and is a leading retailer in the UK with 34 John Lewis shops and a growing online business - johnlewis.com. Did you know that the John Lewis Partnership is the UK’s largest employee owned business? John Lewis invests in local communities through an inspiring Corporate Social Responsibility Programme to promote a fairer and more inclusive society. This involves donations, gifts ‘in kind’, strategic relationships with charities, and Partner volunteering and engagement with local communities.
Forever Manchester awarded us a grant of £861 to buy long lasting tables that can be used for all of our community events. Previously we were reliant on using heavy trestle tables which were difficult to set up and store. These tables will make a huge difference to our members, volunteer and the local community who attend our events. With the right equipment we can run more, better quality and engaging events - practicality makes things happen! The tables came out for their first appearance at our Spring Tea Party where members and their family, friends and supporters united to celebrate the start of the growing season with tea, cakes and camaraderie.
Thank you to Kiwi Nurseries in Sale for donating this barrow full of plants for our Community Borders. Great support from a local business.
The contribution from Miller Homes Community Fund will be used to purchase gazebos, providing more covered space for events held at the allotments. This new space will allow the association to host a wider range of activities and continue it's fundraising efforts, which are vital in keeping membership fees affordable for all. By creating a space where the community can gather, the allotment aims to enhance wellbeing and enjoyment for its members and visitors.
Miller Homes was established in 1934 and is one of the UK’s largest, privately owned national homebuilders with a focus on building new homes in attractive regional markets.
Our purpose is to ‘create great places where people and planet prosper’. This is achieved by building homes and developments that create communities with an emphasis on placemaking and design.
Mike at ConvertMy provided a full day (fully staffed) with a mini digger that helped us clear bramble roots at the border of the carpark and the border at Westborne. Use of machinery made a huge difference to how we could manage this task.
