Grantham Music Club will make an annual Award, in the form of financial assistance, to an exceptionally gifted musician with a local connection during their under-graduate musical studies. This document explains the conditions that apply to the Award. The value of the award will be of the order of £1000. The Club Committee may at any time suspend the Award either temporarily or permanently.

APPLICATION CRITERIA
Geographical Limitation
Applicants must be a UK resident.
They must have:
either lived or studied in Grantham, or one of the surrounding villages, for at least 3 of the previous 6 years,
or have competed in the Grantham Music Festival for at least 3 of the previous 6 years.
The Selection Committee has discretion to include an applicant from a wider area providing it respects the nature of the Music Club as a local charity.
Academic Status
Applicants must have been offered a place to study music at a tertiary institution or already be studying on such a course.
The Selection Committee has discretion to include other appropriate institutions which provide undergraduate level music education.
Previous Winners
An individual may only be given the Award once.
Applicant Agreements
A winning applicant must commit to:
Reporting
providing a post-award report explaining how the Award has enhanced the winner’s musical experience. (max 150 words)
Post Award Concert
if invited by the Club Committee, performing a concert in a future season at a preferential rate. The Club would pay all other expenses for the concert.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Criteria
The selection criteria will be agreed, from time to time, by the Music Club Committee. It may include, but not be limited to:
• musical excellence (applicants may be asked to provide a sound or video recording)
• musical achievements, particularly those at the Grantham Music Festival
• the academic institution they are attending
• how well they fit the “local” criteria
The Selection Committee will not consider the means of the applicant.
Decision
The Selection Committee will determine the Award Winner. The decision of the Selection Committee is final. The Selection Committee may decide to not make an award or to spilt the award between two applicants.
