Christmas Is Here Playlist

Christmas is here again; and like every holiday, music definitely adds to the beat of the season - creating an atmosphere where we can all share in the moment, bringing with it joy, happiness and meaning. So in the spirit of the festivities, we put together a review of four Christmas albums that will, unequivocally, 😛 add to the mood this Christmas.

In the first album, we want to take you back to 2014 with this timeless album - Motown Christmas. This album features an eclectic mix of artists from both sects - gospel and secular - performing together, largely, on some of your popular christmas tunes. With Aaron Lindsay (a six-time grammy winning producer and songwriter) at the helm of production, you can count on how diverse, with regards to genre, these songs will take and also twists introduced to them.

These are some of our favorites from the album, which you can access using this link: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0ct8cokazywi9n8KpFn39Z?si=_ODSXF9vTGWvUSqcU0HV8Q

Little Drummer Boy with the urban feel and featuring Tye Tribette who turns up this record. Angels We Have Heard On High which features Kierra Sheard and Chrisette Michele is a banger. This alternate rock rendition which is uniquely done by these artists and producer hits differently, creating a new appeal. Third on our favs list is Holy Night which is classically delivered by Smokie Norful doing a home run of notes 😆. This Christmas featuring Brian Courtney Wilson and Gene Moore and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas with Toni Braxton and Babyface rounds up our favs list from this Album. The later employs the RNB rhythm, and soothing melodies delivered by these artists and the former has an urban pop feel  gearing you up for a joyous season.

Like every christmas, since the world began celebrating it, this album is here to stay and in a timeless fashion will be on your playlist for a long time to come.

Our next album is from the camp of Pentatonix. With great harmonies and music accompaniment all done with the vocal cords, and accompanied by other instruments they bring you christmas from around the world with their latest album titled Holidays Around The World.

This album captures the spirit of Christmas from the globe illustrating the shared meaning of this season. With original songs alongside interesting takes of popular tunes, which have music infusions from different continents, this album will take you on the thrill that Christmas brings. We definitely want to give you a sneak peek into this album by telling you about our favs.

Love Came On Christmas has the afrobeats thangy going on with melodic chants in the Congolese language delivered by Grace Lokwa, adding a soulful touch to the record. You certainly gonna vibe to this one both body and soul 😛. Also, on our favs list are two original songs titled Star On Top and Prayers For This World. These two songs represent two different genres - whereas Star On Top is of the pop country genre, Prayers of the World has the alternative rock vibe. However, both songs will leave you with a great Christmas sensation.

Another song with an african vibe is It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year. With an infused african rhythm this popular tune takes on a new form making this season feel wonderfully special 😝. Rounding off our favs list are 3 more popular tunes that take on a new form. On Jingle Bells, Pentatonix collaborates with Lang Lang to create a masterpiece, as the vocal cords vibrate and the piano strings jingle 😝. On the contrary is Silent Night which features only vocals from Pentatonix and the King’s Singers, creating a magical moment, which adds to the magic of the season. Last but not least is Last Christmas 😆. This song featuring HIKAKIN and SEIKIN won’t be the last time you would listen to it because there will always be “this Christmas” 😝.

This is definitely an album catching the waves of the season as the year spins to an end. 🙂

Now onto our third album in this review. If there is one message to tell during this season, it is gonna be the birth of Christ and this contemporary worship group couldn’t have told it better, on the mountains, over the hills and everywhere with their Christmas worship album - A Very Maverick Christmas.

I am pretty sure you figured out that Go Tell It On The Mountain is one of our favs on the album. Yup you got it correct. This joint features Melvin Crispel III (winner of Sunday’s Best, Season 9)

who croons the song with stunning vocals depicting the jubilant mood of the song - urban worship - and reminding us of the joy this season brings, and Chandler Moore who definitely adds to the mood. Still in the spirit of worship and gratitude, and adding to the significance of the season, Chandler Moore delivers Mary Did You Know with spiritual awareness, encouraging believers not to give up on the task and responsibility God has given them, however daunting, just like Mary. Also in the vein, and capping it up on our favs list, for this worship album, is Here I Am To Worship featuring Ryan Offei and Joy To The World/ Joy Of The Lord feat Naomie Raine and Todd Galberth. These established singers keep the worship atmosphere going on.

Remember what the wisemen did when they visited baby Jesus and presented their gifts, they bowed down and worshiped.  We certainly could use some worship this season, God has been good - hasn’t he been good? Together with the Maverick team, we wish you a very Maverick Christmas

Finally, Christmas Everyday rounds up our album list. You certainly know what to expect on this Jazz album from Kevin Bond (A ten-time grammy winning producer and songwriter). Fresh from him, he decided to grace us with an album, adding to the delight of this season.

This album captures the heart of christmas in runs, licks, chords and scales on popular christmas tunes in scintillating ways reminding us how special this season is. To give you a gist of what we mean, we are going to take you through some of our favs on this album. The Little Drummer Boy takes on a soulful ballad form with percussion accompaniment that reverberates with your heart keeping you in tune with this special season. Angels We Have Heard On High has an RNB feel definitely feeding you with the right rhythm for your blues this festive occasion. Away In A Manger takes you away but out of the manger into cloud nine with awesome extended and altered chords, leaving you high-spirited, which is reminiscent of this season.  We will round off with Jingle Bells and My Favorite Things which have a swing vibe, totally keeping you in the swing of things Christsmas.

On that note, we were excited to share these albums reviews and some of our favorite things from this album 😛. We hope these songs add to your Christmas, bringing you laughter and joy and reminding you of how special this season is.
