The Pursuit Of Life

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Philippians 4:8, NLT

Life is full of pursuits. At every point, we will be driven by God to accomplish something which cuts across all spheres of life, whether it be opening a business, growing and nurturing a relationship, raising children, or furthering studies, and the list is endless. In this quest, which is inevitable, as we go through life we will grapple with an outcome which will make our efforts feel significant and rewarding, inadvertently guiding our actions. So in this article, as I was inspired by the Holy Spirit, I proceed to pursue bringing my thoughts on this journey of life, highlighting what the outcomes should look like, making the process fruitful.

So if we were to pursue any endeavor in life, what should we aspire to be our outcome? This brings me to the opening text. The scripture says we should fix our thoughts, which will also mean that what we hope to see at the end of our actions or deliverables should be one that is of the truth, honourable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and worthy of praise. So where am I driving to - I guess i am still on this journey of sharing my thoughts 😆. This is to say that in case we are developing and delivering the product or services for our businesses, we should strive for an excellent and praiseworthy outcome, which is a product or a service that is carefully developed and efficiently distributed to the target market yet admirable because it goes out of the ordinary to add a positive value to the world, making it a better place, directly or indirectly or if we were to be in a relationship with our partner, we should work towards one that is pure and right because it does not seek to take undue advantage of either one; and honourable, leaving an impression on people of how lovely it is.

Although we’ve come to the end of the road, still I can’t let go 😜. I hope this article inspires you to  achieve these outcomes in your pursuits in life, bringing you joy, peace, fulfillment and prosperity.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

At the crossroads?

“But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast…,

Luke 15:22-23, NLT

Life can have an interesting pattern. There are times we will have to move on, and certain times, life can bring us back to a former place so we can make the relevant changes that need to happen - so in Africa there is a word “Sankofa” that literally translates to it is not a taboo to fetch what is at risk of being left behind.” However, the question still remains - when do you go back? And this is true for a relationship, business and even salvation. This is why I am excited to share this article with you, as I was inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Back to the main question: will it ever be wise to go back? This brings me to the text in our opening scripture. We can see how much importance was placed on the son that returned. He was given a ring for his finger, sandals for his feet and he was celebrated with a feast. Clearly, we see the acceptance and recognition of the influence he had, which was demonstrated by giving him a ring.

Going back, whatever the case maybe, will always have these attributes if it is to be effective and worthwhile, and this answers not just the why but how we approach it.This was also seen in the case of Moses, who was faced with the challenge of going back to save his people. This is captured in Exodus 4: 29 - 31. The scripture says that Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites, and Aaron told them everything the LORD had said to Moses. He also performed the signs before the people, and they believed. And when they heard that the LORD was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped. In other words, if there is going to be a significance, beyond what had transpired early, and value placed on a future relationship with you, then going back makes sense - which will also mean that if you do not see any significance and value for a future relationship, then there is no point going back.

I do hope that reading this article brings you the comfort and the joy in moving on, poised that there are better days ahead or the strength, wisdom and meaning to go back and be and make the difference. And if you feel disconnected from God, maybe it is time to get back. There is a far more significant and valuable relationship for your future waiting on you. He is waiting to be your strength and song; and give you victory (Psalm 118:14, NLT).

Open for me the gates where the righteous enter, and I will go in and thank the LORD. These gates lead to the presence of the LORD, and the godly enter there. I thank you for answering my prayer and giving me victory!
