Characterising VOC emission profiles of healthy, viable wheat grains will be a key reference point for comparing changes during fungal infection.
Characterising VOC profiles during fungal infection will enable monitoring of changes in VOC profiles and the identification of unique VOCs (biomarkers of infection).
Utilizing stable isotope analysis to trace the metabolic pathways and origins of VOCs emitted during fungal infection.
Assessing the ecological role and impact of emitted VOCs.
