Some Thoughts From Our Third-Grade Schoolmates Across the Hall
By, Isla Noll
Grade Four gets to know their 3rd-grade friends across the hall by sharing recess time with them. We asked their teacher, Ms. McDuffy, to capture a glimpse of what goes on in their classroom as well. Ms. Mc Duffie said that third grade has been a fun year for her class so far. The third-grade class has been learning cursive writing! I was able to read through some of their cursive responses to: “What they have been learning so far this year. '' Here are some highlights and a pinch on what they are learning and what they think:
Mathiew:
"We are learning cursive. We have math every day. I can count and make changes. I can take notes on social studies texts. I can write uppercase and lowercase
And capital letters in cursive."
Jeanie:
"...In third grade, we have been doing a lot of cursive. We have also been doing a lot of math. Ms. Mc Duffie [read] The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to us."
Kelly:
"I think third grade is great. There are word problems in math. We learned cursive, and we have morning meetings every day where six people get to share. Every Monday we get spelling in Wonders."
Sloane Mc G:
"We are practicing our cursive. We can take notes for social studies tests, and we can also diagram simple sentences. We can observe the qualities of urban, suburban, and rural communities."
Emma:
"Third-grade math is hard; we're learning how to solve word problems. We're also learning how to write in cursive. Religion is fun. Science is fun when we do a project."
Dylan:
"I can count and make changes. I can take notes from social studies texts and diagram a simple sentence."
Thank you for sharing some of your thoughts with us, Grade Three. We hope you continue to have a great school year!
