When I was a supervisor at the Anthropologie in the Short North, our visual merchandising manager was on vacation and I was given a project that she would normally do. The project was to reset our dining department based on messaging from the company. I had helped the VMM in the past but I had never done a set on my own. The challenge was following the messaging from the company without having all of the proper product to follow it with. I also did not have her there to give me advice on what to do. I was given complete control and independence and it was daunting at first.
The goal of this project was to properly display new merchandise and to follow the company's messaging as closely as possible. This was to ensure that whent the visual merchandising manager came back from her vacation, she could carry on to the next department that she had to merchandise. Without me completing this project properly, she would be set back on what she had to complete for the week.
The outcome of what I completed is in the three pictures I provided. Prior to me touching the dining department, the table shown in the bottom two pictures was not merchandised at all and the top picture's area was merchandised with a green cabinet instead of the full wall of glass shelving. I am proud of the completed project. I noticed in messaging that the company used tree stumps on the long table so I utilized those on my display. I feel like the outcome met the goals of the project and the VMM gave me great feedback when she returned.
