Lucky Casanova is a one-woman show starring and co-written by Grace Lila Martin talking about her grandfather John Gaul.
John Gaul came to Victoria after fleeing Hungary with his persecuted Romani family. He dreamt of hearing his songs sung on the radio and sent the songs he wrote across the world. After his death, his family found a Rubbermaid bin full of the songs he'd sent out marked "Return to Sender." Lucky Casanova is a heartfelt homage to an extraordinary man whose musical genius and profound words will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. The story discusses John's battles with mental illness and alcoholism while highlighting his unique humour, including tales of his adventures in rivalry with Frank Sinatra and his friendship with Robert Goulet.
