Expect a come-as-you-are vibe, a friendly welcome, an inter-generational congregation, shared leadership in our liturgy and hymns, communion and a sermon proclaiming the Good News of Jesus.
Things to Know about Worship In-Person
As in every worshiping community, there are some things we do consistently each week, and other ways in which each worship service is unique. As we celebrate God's love in Christ, the spirit of worship is a spirit of grace:
Kids are Welcome at Worship:
Toward the beginning of the service, your children are welcome to come forward for the children's sermon. Or not is fine too.
If your kids fuss during worship, that's okay; we love kids. If they get extra fussy, we still love them! Feel free to excuse yourself to the nursery or narthex, and let us know how we can help distract/calm them.
At communion, children who haven't been baptized and/or haven't had their first communion are welcome to come up for a blessing. If you/your child is interested, Pastor Becca is available for first communion instruction.
You are Welcome, too:
However you show up is exactly how we want to receive you.
If you don't know the Lutheran liturgy, that's okay. It often takes a few repetitions before the patterns and tunes become familiar. We have hymnals and bulletins with the words and music and if you feel lost, we want to be helpful.
Since the germ scare of the pandemic, we have not passed an offering plate. There is no expectation of our guests to contribute, but if you are looking for the plate, there is a basket at the sanctuary door and a QR code in the bulletin for online giving.
If you hunger and thirst for the presence and promises of Christ, you are welcome to receive communion. If you would rather not, that's okay too-- The decision is between you and God and no one is judging you either way. You can also choose to come up (or not) for a blessing instead of communion. Pastor Becca is available if you have any questions.
If you don't know the Good News of Jesus or the stories of the Bible or what it means to be a Christian or a Lutheran Christian, that's okay. We are all starting from different places and we are all learning together. Let Pastor Becca know if you'd like to review the basics.
After worship, please join us for a cup of coffee, a bite to eat and a taste of fellowship at Grace. We hope you'll come back for more.
