A project is a sequence of tasks that need to be completed to reach a specific outcome.
A project can also be defined as a set of inputs and outputs required to achieve a particular goal. Projects can range from simple to complex and can be managed by one person or more.
A piece of planned work or activity that is completed over a period of time and intended to achieve a particular aim.
Identification of projects
Due to revised GTU Curricula it is mandatory offer for Summer internship – I (3rd Sem for two week) and Summer Internship – II (5th Sem for 6 weeks) before starting the regular Academic semester. So it is helpful / benefits for students to identification of project topic for doing work in particular interested industry or area of field. Previous year’s project title is display on notice board and also project models are shown to the students so no repetition of same project title to selection. Project proposal is presented to the project Guide / Review committee and after careful examination of the idea presented by the teams of students, final allocation of project is done. If required project title is allocated by guide in consultation with Project Review committee.
· Project coordinator issues a circular to all faculty members to provide the list of projects to be given to the students for the current relevant context.
· Information regarding selection of project title is given.
· The project ideas collected from the students are on the basis of CO’s for Cost, safety, ethics, usefulness or Environment sustainability etc.
· Encourage students to identify current updating ideas for society helpful, rural areas and renewable energy sources.
Project Allocation
· Each project members varies from three to eight students based on as per requirement of Mechanical Engineering project.
· The group of students submits the project ideas to Project Review Committee / Guide. One of the project titles is allocated to the group of students.
· Guide is allocated to a Project Group as per Faculty specialization or Expertise.
· Students are also given choice to choose their guide as per their project content.
· Senior Faculties are given preference as guide to the student’s project.
Process for monitoring and evaluation of project
· Project Group students should meet their respective guide weekly as per allocated slot and inform to their project work progress they have done in their project.
· Each group has to submit progress report / Logbook to the respective guide.
· Progress report presentation followed by viva-voce has been carried out twice in a semester in front of guide and Project Review committee, then committee review the progress and gives necessary suggestions if required.
· Project coordinator displays schedule on the notice board for the Review 1 & Review 2 of project presentation.
· Project guide will assess each student in team and make them work in right way.
· The GTU guidelines are followed in evaluation of project.
