Hi! I am Gowtham G, PhD
I am a Postdoctoral Researcher (FARE Fellow) in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. My thesis, "Seismic stability analysis of circular tunnels in soils under harmonic excitation," focused on computing the maximum normal stress imposed by the surrounding soil under various ground and loading conditions, considering harmonic base shaking. I used the lower bound theorem of limit analysis and the finite element procedure. All necessary computations were performed using self-written MATLAB (2022b) codes, with Second-Order Cone Programming (SOCP) implemented using the MOSEK Optimization Toolbox.
I was awarded the Outstanding PhD Thesis Award among all graduating doctoral students in the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Kanpur, at the 58th Convocation ceremony held on June 23, 2025.
