At GoVio, we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of every user on our platform students, parents, employees, drivers, and institutional administrators. Information We Collect

Personal Information

Full name and mobile number (students, parents, drivers)
Email address for account registration and communication
Driver license number (for verification purposes)
Organization / institution name and type
User role: Student, Employee, Driver, or Admin
Unique User ID and route assignment details

Location Data

Location data is the core function of GoVio. We collect:

Real-time GPS location of drivers/vehicles during an active trip
Stop-level and route-level location data during active journeys
We do NOT collect location data when trips are inactive or drivers are offline

Device & Technical Data

Device type, operating system, and app version
Firebase Authentication tokens and session data
Push notification tokens (via Firebase Cloud Messaging)
App usage logs for performance and error monitoring

Institutional Data

School, college, or company name and transport configurations
Route data, vehicle assignments, and driver-route mappings
Trip logs including start time, end time, and stops covered

How we Use Your Information

To provide real-time vehicle tracking and route visibility to authorized users
To send push notifications about trip status, route updates, and alerts
To enable admins to manage routes, vehicles, and driver assignments
To verify and authenticate all platform users securely
To maintain trip history for institutional reporting and analytics
To improve platform performance and user experience
To respond to support queries and feedback

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.

Data Sharing & Third-Party Services

Within the Platform

Admins can view all users, routes, trips, and driver details within their organization
Students/parents see only their assigned bus, driver name, and live location
Drivers see only their assigned routes and schedules

Third-Party Services We Use

Google Maps API for mapping, routing, and live location display
Firebase (Google) for authentication, push notifications, and Firestore database
Google Cloud Run & Cloud SQL our backend infrastructure

All third-party services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not share your data with any other external parties unless required by law.

Data Security

We take data security seriously. Our measures include:

All location and personal data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
Firebase Authentication with role-based access control
Firestore security rules restrict access based on user roles
Regular security audits and cloud infrastructure monitoring
No unauthorized third party has access to real-time location streams

While we use industry-standard protections, no digital system can be guaranteed 100% secure. We encourage all users to keep login credentials confidential and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Children's Privacy & Parental Consent

GoVio serves school-age children and takes their privacy with the utmost seriousness.

Student accounts for minors are created exclusively by institutional administrators
Parental or guardian consent is required by the institution before a student is enrolled
Parents and guardians can view their child's assigned bus and live location
We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children under 13

Data Retention & Your Rights

Active user data is retained as long as the account is active
Trip logs and route history are retained for up to 12 months
Deleted accounts are purged from our systems within 30 days
Driver location data is not retained beyond active trip duration

As a GoVio user, you have the right to:

Access — Request a copy of your personal data
Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data
Deletion — Request deletion of your account and data
Portability — Receive your data in a machine-readable format
Withdraw Consent — Disable location sharing through app settings at any time
