Intro to the topic
Dispel the lies with facts.
FACT: There have been no sexual assaults or instances of voyeurism by students claiming to be transgender at Goochland.
The incident often cited is the Loudon County involves a sexual assault by a dress-wearing male in a woman’s bathroom in May of 2018.
FACT: First, the Loudon County school board did not adopt any trans policy until the Fall of 2018, therefore, there was no trans bathroom policy in place at that time. Second, ABSENT in court proceedings is any claim of the student being transgender or using transgender as a front to gain access to the bathrooms. Third, unfortunetly like most sexual assaults, the victim knew the perpetrator. The victim and the offender has plans to meet up in the bathroom (and had previously met up in the bathroom).
This was NOT a random act of sexual assault made possible by using a transgender policy to gain access to the bathroom. They are willfully lying to you.
FACT: Goochland has been working with families with children that identify as transgender for more than 4 years. These children, with their parents and school leaders, decide the best course of action for using the restroom and locker room changes.
FACT: See lie #3. Since school administrators work with children and their families, only those that have an established need are accommodated. Students that willfully venture into unauthorized areas are subject to the same discipline as they have been for years. Moreover, if sexual assault or peeping occurs (in any location) charges can be brought against perpetrators.
FACT: Most accommodations for those that identify as transgender include avoidance of either sex locker rooms, alternative gym policies, and the use of unisex bathroom facilities.
FACT: That that identify as transgender are at a great risk of bullying, verbal abuse, physical violence, and depression. This is the real threat, and it happens EVERY DAY, even in the Goochland School system.
FACT: Anti-trans policies, whether in good faith or not, demonize these children. Bullies are empowered by the rhetoric they hear to attack these children.
