Research Topics (研究議題)

I am very interested in research issues relating to Cognitive Linguistics, such as figurative language (e.g., metaphors, idiom and irony), motion events and fictive motion, etc. In addition, I have started to look at linguistic features of language produced by people with autistic disorder in these couples of years. The problems of how they understand non-literal language have been examined, too. 

只要跟認知語言學相關的研究議題,我都非常感興趣,例如比喻性語言(例如,隱喻,成語和反諷),動作事件和虛擬移動語句等。此外,我最近幾年開始研究自閉症患者產生的語言特徵,也包含他們理解非字面意義的語句或語詞。 

In recent years, my team has actively collaborated with industry experts to develop practical language technology systems and software. These collaborations have resulted in the creation of various tools, such as a bilingual menu recommendation system, web crawlers, segmentation systems, an AI-based English speaking assessment system, and tools for identifying and predicting metaphors using natural language processing. Through these tools, our goal is to assist students in enhancing their language skills, metaphor analysis, English learning, and programming abilities. 

我的團隊近年來積極與業界專家合作,開發實用的語言技術系統和軟體。這些合作促成了各種工具的創建,包括雙語菜單推薦系統、網路爬蟲、分詞系統、基於人工智慧的英語口語評量系統,以及利用自然語言處理技術辨識和預測隱喻。通過這些工具,我們的目標是協助學生提升語言能力、隱喻分析能力、英語學習能力和程式撰寫技能。 

Research Methods (研究方法)

I like to study linguistics via using a quantitative approach. That means that statistic testing is necessary. And, I look at the language processing from the comprehension and production perspectives. Therefore, I often use experiment-oriented methods in my studies, including creating stimuli, running experiments and analyzing data. 

我喜歡使用量性方法來研究語言學議題。 這意味著研究大部分會進行統計測試。 而且,我的研究大部分是從理解和表達角度看待語言如何處理。 因此,我採用實驗取向的研究方法,包括設計實驗字表、執行實驗流程、和分析數據資料。

In the domain of language technology, creating systems or digital tools requires the use of programming languages such as Python or C++. For language analysis, we utilize WordSmith Tools to assist with corpus analysis. 

在語言科技部分,創建系統或數位工具需要利用到語言程式,包括python, 或 C++程式。而語言分析部分,我們會使用到WordSmith tools 來協助語料分析。


Laboratory 實驗室

Equipment: Our laboratory is equipped with E-Prime software for conducting psycholinguistic tasks. Additionally, we have Sketch Engine and WordSmith lexical analysis software for language behavior data analysis. 

設備: 本實驗室配備了E-Prime軟體,可用於執行心理語言學相關任務。此外,還配有Sketch Engine和WordSmith詞彙分析軟體,可用於進行語言行為數據分析。

Space: The laboratory is located in Room R409 of the Creativity Building, divided into an experimental area and a workspace. The experimental area is primarily used for conducting experiments, providing research participants with an independent and distraction-free environment for language tasks. The workspace is mainly for analyzing experimental data and corpora. 

空間: 實驗室位於創意樓R409,分為實驗區和工作區。實驗區主要用於進行實驗,確保研究參與者在獨立且不受干擾的環境中處理語言任務。工作區則主要用於實驗數據和語料分析。
