GOLD-UE Expresses No Confidence in President Beilock

GOLD-UE General Body Resolution | May 13, 2024

On May 13, GOLD-UE passed by overwhelming majority a member-proposed resolution that (1) expresses no confidence in Sian Beilock in her role as College president, (2) calls for her immediate resignation, and (3) calls on faculty to vote no confidence in Beilock’s administration. This resolution arises as a product of the widespread intimidation tactics employed by the administration. Under Beilock’s leadership, Dartmouth is taking illegal retaliatory actions against striking members of GOLD-UE and continues to stand by their decision to use riot police to crush a peaceful protest against the war in Gaza. The tactics used by the administration to stifle legally protected forms of collective action are unacceptable. Through this resolution, the GOLD-UE general body makes clear that we view these tactics as a blatant attempt to create a culture of fear around expressing dissent. Beilock’s approach to leadership degrades the working and learning conditions of the entire Dartmouth community, and all students and workers should fight against this dangerous trend.
