The Technology of the GOK-Alliance is generally similar to that of the Federation, but there are a few pieces of technology available to those from the Alliance which are not used by the wider Federation for a variety of reasons.
The URI’s primary function is as a communicator, universal translator, and interface for interacting with displays. It also has the capability to store and transmit text, audio, and video. Modern URIs can create a minor holographic projection with a maximum size of 30cm cubed. The URI also acts as a beacon for the InTar while in Alliance Space.
The URI generally has the appearance of a leather brace that covers about half the forearm, but can be customized by the wearer. URIs were developed mainly for the use of smaller species, allowing them to access interfaces that were too high-up to access otherwise, but in modern day they are used by most member races of the Alliance. It is not prohibited for use by other Federation peoples, but most don't see the point. It is widely used by Alliance members, even those in Starfleet, particularly the Raka, Arwan, and Pipini who use it for it's original designed purpose.
Similar to the Holodeck, the Mind Chamber provides a virtual experience for individuals to enjoy in their leisure time. Unlike the Holodeck, the Mind Chamber is projected into the mind of the individual through psychic waves, placing them into an immersive simulation while their body sits safely in the chamber’s many seats. The Mind Chamber has more comprehensive safety features and results in injuries far less than a holodeck. The Mind Chamber was developed in the early years of the GOK Alliance, before their first encounters with Starfleet.
It is generally not used by Starfleet because they already have Holodeck Technology, and many people are uncomfortable with the idea of the Mind Chamber, well, getting inside their mind. Another reason the Mind Chamber is not widely used in Federation space is the lack of ability to use it as an exercise space.
Unlike UFP Transporters, the Teletheric Transporter does not dematerialize its passengers. Instead, it functions by sending passengers briefly into a sub-dimension, then retrieving them in a different location. In order to function, all passengers must wear a specialized transmitter beacon and a Teletheric platform is required on both ends of the journey. The Teletheric was in development for a very long time - research began in 2132 and only became a viable method of transport in 2283.
Upon first discovering Teletheric Transporters in use within Alliance vessels, Starfleet scientists were eager to integrate it into their own ships, but a few factors made that impossible. The primary reason for this impossibility is that dimensional shifting usually has cumulative negative side effects resulting in cellular degradation, but that degradation is somehow avoided when transporting within Alliance space. Less significantly, the technology was designed to use a certain crystalline compound in the Teletheric platform, a compound which has only been found within Alliance systems and cannot be replicated. Finally, one of the factors that allows the Teletheric to successfully retrieve its passengers is the strong psychic energy of Alliance member species, as well as their living vessels, which results in the devices working best when integrated into the systems of a Hashem-Class or larger Living Vessel.
